What is the BEST CAR phone MOUNT for 8525?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I just bought this AC phone MOUNT and it works PERFECT for my 8525... I actually like the AC being the place of reference rather than the glass... Just seems a bit rediculous and it is further away...

The phone mount was purchased at radio shack and was only 15 bucks.

Here be the problem... When I want to watch video in full screen the picture automatically goes landscape and there is no way to rotate the mount... It is like this one HUGE tiny fault. If there was just a way to rotate it...

What have you guys come up with that might be better or what you like!!!

Wirelessly posted (Cingular 8525: HTC-8500/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320))

Proclips mount are great and swivel. I have a powered one that I modified to use the y-adapter so when I put my phone in the cradle it charges plus I have audio out to my car stereo.

actually NO, I can't say that... I sure doesn't seem like it moves... I found this 16 dollar one on Amazon.

What adapter(s) do you use to get the audio to your car stereo? I had this with my prophet, but the 8525/Tytn has the weird usb port...

The USB is a standard mini connector all you have to to is turn the cable the other way around.

I used the y-adapter that came with my 8525:

It gives you a charging jack as well as a 3.5mm audio out.

can you give a link to the proclips one... because the ones I am finding suck... finally let me get this straight... you can turn/swivel your 8525 whenver you want... from horizontal to vertical???

http://www.proclipusa.com/

You need a vehicle mount, and a device holder. The vehicle mount is specific to each car, and the device holder you'll need one for the TyTN. I can swivel it however I want.

The guy I order them from gives discounts so I can give you his contact info if you want to order from him.

OK, but you understand what I mean about the horizontal positioning and the vertical normal positioning of the 8525... I want this because of the video feature... very important...

You want to rotate it 90 degrees so you can view your videos sideways on the larger screen. I get that. That's exactly what I'm telling you this allows you to do.

OK OK, I am starting to see... which one did you actually get... do you have the number of the devices... IE> for the tytn holder I mean

Ok, LOL, I just figured something out... I only need it really to be in Horizontal MODE... I really don't need to switch...

Posted by: christian15213

Ok, but which did you get and MOD? the powered or non powered? and again... I don't think you can make yours' horizontal can you?

Posted by: URPREY

The Proclip horizontal mount requires that you place your device into the mount OPENED, which means every time you want to put it into your holder it has to be slid open. That wasn't appealing to me...

See I was thinking this one because by gollie... why do I ever need it upright vertical?

Posted by: URPREY

I used the POWERED mount. You have to modify the usb part of the 8525's y cable to make it fit into the powered mount's holder. Mine CAN be rotated horizontally, but the keyboard can't be opened while in the holder. No big deal for me.

LOL, Hear you but can you rotate it 90 degrees to make it horizontal??? LOL incase you're wondering why I am obsessed over it... is because when you watch video in full screen it has to be horizontal... see what I mean... AND honestly having the keyboard out and ready to go instant a bad thing... I think it is a good thing... not to say your choice is wrong but this is what I am thinking...

YES. I've posted that at least 3 times.

Posted by: christian15213

I know I am sorry... LOL, I just didn't want to buy something that isn't gonna work... Ok last thing... You said discount... 15 bucks vs. 60 --100 bucks isn't exactly something to sneeze at... what can they do?
