What does the 'U' icon on the 8525 mean?

I believe the U is for their UTMS network, which is the 3G network.

It stands for "U are one of the lucky ones to get 3G".

Or maybe UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System).

What's odd is there isn't an E icon for when you're in an EDGE network, it defaults back to the G icon.

I haven't been on just GPRS for a long time, is there still any of it left or are they almost totally EDGE now?

But if you are in an HSDPA area shouldnt there be an HSDPA icon?
