Anyone have Google Maps for Mobile working on the e816 with the Bell FW on VZW?

I've tried a variety of versions with no success. Every time I launch it I get the loading terms and conditions screen but then it either exits or throws a fatal error. I was reading through the Google Group for this and it seems to be a problem for a lot of people but there are no clear solutions. I'd really like to get this working.

There's a couple of App packs with a working version posted from me or KBMAN somewhere around here. Do a search i can't remember what thread it was in.

I tried that one and I get a Network Unavailable error after the loading terms and conditions screen. I checked my HoTTProxy logs and it didn't even try to make a connection. None of my other java apps seem to be having problems. Do you have it working?

Yes it works fine but you need to use an unauthenticated proxy for java apps or it won't work.

You mean without a user name or password?

I tried with several open proxies from aliveproxy.com which work fine for wap but google maps now just hangs on the Loading Terms and Conditions. Is anyone else having these problems or does anyone have any suggestions?

I am having the exact same problem. Right now I can't even download the app from google.com/gmm, but I am able to load it onto my phone from one of the app packs around here. It installs perfectly and hangs on the Terms and Conditions. Wish I knew how to get it working.

I did get mobile GMaps on my phone, but I have not had a chance to play with it yet to see how useful it is.

gMaps works for me as well but it doesn't to traffic or directions so Google Maps would be much better. I'm going to keep trying with different proxies but I think there might be another problem.

This is a link I posted to an App pack that I stripped out the database files from so my cookies were removed. This was pulled directly from my phone so it should work properly as long as the appdb folder is overwritten properly with BitPim and you are using a totally unauthenticated proxy, like the one from the Free WAP sticky.

Here is the proxy that worked for me (courtesy of kbman): 165.228.131.12 port 80
As an aside, you should also check out Windows Live Search which has working traffic info (the latest version of google maps that worked for me was 1.2.2 which was before they added traffic). Anyways, here are the links:
JAD: http://wls.live.com/download/j2me/WindowsLiveSearch.jad
JAR: http://wls.live.com/download/j2me/WindowsLiveSearch.jar

Here is what you stick into your selector.utf assuming you rename to s2_suite.jar and s2_suite.utf:
Code:
suite=Windows Live Search, \ root=s2_, \ num=1, \ domain=trusted, \ permissions=AAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDAADDAADDD DDDDDAADDD, \ fg_permissions=ADDDDDDDDDDDDDDD, \ installtime=1115973855311, \ folder=Applications midlet=Windows Live Search, \ class=com.msn.search.mobile.client.MSNSearchMobile Client, \ installtime=1115973855311

Can someone upload the Windows Live Search app? The download link is not working.

See if the one from here works http://mobile.search.live.com/client/j2me_handsets.aspx
Its a new version I haven't tried out so let me know. If it doesn't work I'll upload the old beta.
