HELP!! Blackberry 8700 just stopped working!

Hi all,

I have a T-Mobile 8700G Blackberry. I was doing my normal nightly routine - set the alarm on the 8700g before i go to bed, send a few email, and went to sleep. This morning when I got up the blackberry was completely unresponsive. Blank screen, as if it were off. I took the battery out to try to reset it but nothing worked. I tried using a paper clip to find a reset hole but didn't find anything. The blackberry was on my night stand charging using an AC adaptor like i have been doing for the past 6 months - nothing out of the ordinary.

I have tried swapping batteries and still doesn't work

I have also tried using my sync cable to activate the blackberry (like when updating the firmware on it) and no response - the red light doesn't even come on!

Right now it is a complete paper weight - does anyone have any suggestions how to resolve this?

What's so weird about it is i have two blackberries - the other is 8700g for vodaphone and was plugged using a different charger, and nothing is wrong with that one.

Also, i am using OEM chargers.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Your help is extremely appreciated! i am roaming in London right now and cannot go into my local t-mobile USA store. I have tried going into a t-mobile UK store but they will not service it as they are not the same company.

Thank you in advance

Try wiping it clean w/ JL_Cmder and reloading the OS.

maybe try removing the SIM card and trying to power on with it out

dang, thats a pretty hard crash there. well, i guess it'd be worth checking the usb port to make sure its not clogged with anything conducting electricity (seems very, very, very unlikey this would be the cause - but if two batterys dont work nor the usb cord, seems 'physical' to the phone)

another very unlikely fix, and something i wouldnt do unless then next step is to return the phone, is to try to 'short out' the battery prongs. ie, touch all the prongs together with a paperclip. i dont know anything about eletrical engineering to tell you if its supported by any logic, but maybe there is a slight electical charge built up in a capactor or diode or what not, and thats preventing power from 'flowing'?

also there is that whole 'leave it alone for a day, see if it fixes itsself' method

good luck though!

Thanks for the response. Nothing is clogged in the charger/usb slot. I will try the paperclip idea - what do i have to lose!

i've already left it alone for most of the day... it's not going to fix itself.

Please keep the suggestions coming, thank you

Try a power reset. Pull out the battery, and hold the power button for 1 minute. This will reset the transistors in the processor, and hopefully solve your problem.

If that doesn't work, yank the battery, leave it out for 30 minutes, and then power reset it.

It sounds like the 8700 suffered a surge of some sort. I would check the adapter to make sure it's ok.
