8525 and soft keys?

Im new to having a mobile pc device, but im confused why the soft keys on the front of the device dont work for many applications. for example file explorer and internet explorer. If I slide the device open, the other set of soft keys work, but the ones on the front dont. I'd rather not touch the touch screen if I can hit a button.

They should. The right and left buttons (over the Windows and Ok buttons) should be the same as the on-screen right and left softkeys. If yours doesn't, it's broken.
