My pearl randomly wouldn't scroll down lastnight, so i pulled the battery for a few just incase. That didnt work so i decided to wait till today to take it apart and check it out. The disassembly was easy especially with pics online. The rollers are a metal pin with a black ring on the end. When i scrolled the wheel down the black part stood still while the roller spun inside it! All the other rollers spun as one piece. So I just played with the black peice and tried to get out any dust i saw in there, which wasnt very much at all. After playing with it for a minute it began to work exactly how it should. I have no idea what happened but i hope it doesnt happen again.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I had the same thing as well. I tried everything to get it working. Didnt go as far
as taking it apart though. I ended up giving it a good whack on my leg and everything was fine after that

This is a nightmare! now it wont scroll up. im going to try the "good whack" method before i take it apart. I think i see a 8700 in my very near future.

When mine does that, I just blast the area between the Trackball and the silver ring with canned air. Works every time
