8525 Start menu - remove program link

I deleted a program with the remove programs in Control Panel, yet the icon remains on my start menu?
How can I edit the Start menu?
An observation: my MS XP program on my desk tp / laptop receives mb of updates all the time. How come MS doesn't send "fixes" for the version on the PPC. Can't believe that there are no fixes needed.
