i would have to think that blackberry's never really change. besides form factor they mainly stay the same. but this one does have a few extra features.

Wirelessly posted (SAMSUNG-SGH-I607/I607FG1 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; Smartphone; 320x240) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

so how do you like it. give a mini review

Well this is my first smartphone I have ever owned. I am coming from the Moto Slvr. So far I really like it. The form is very similar to my slvr - which I love. The only thing I will really miss is iTunes simplicity.

I am still getting used to a qwerty keyboard, and the 2 letters per key thing.
The camera is pretty good for what it is.
It is very light, almost so light some parts feel cheap.
I am still getting used to how to operate everything, but even without looking at the forums, or the manual I have managed to figure it out.

Any other questions feel free to ask

OH the main reason I swithed phones is because my slvr couldnt recieve/make calls in my house at all. I was fed up so I thought I'd try this thing, and it works fantastic.

blackberryforums.net always have lots of info pertaining to bb devices.

I've been hoping to read more about the Pearl here, and was also suprised by the lack of threads about the device.

I have used the Blackberry forums too, which has been very helpful.

I think blackberry has this niche market... the pearl is the first to appeal to more people, but its still a blackberry... plus people are too busy with their 3g winmo

To really get to know your pearl read the help section on your bb. I took me a couple of hours but now I know the bb pretty well and I find that not only does it make a great phone but also a good basic pda.

Program control/switching is way ahead of palm, win mobile, and is about on par to symbian.

Thats exactly it, you are coming from a SLVR - which is basically a phone, nothing more. I had a Pearl for a brief period and I thought it was a nice piece of technology, but compared to a lot of other phones - it is nothing too spectacular in my opinion.

I thought it was very light and I knew if I dropped it once, ti would break into a million pieces.

I didn't enjoy the keypad as I personally like QWERTY keypads. I am sure sure-type takes some getting used to, but I am impatient. I dont like the pearl navigation personally.

I didnt think the phone was loud enough and the memory card was in the worst spot.

This is all just my opinion. I know some people who love it and I am happy for them. After using a 3G phone, I could never go back and really dont understand how Cingular & RIM could leave 3G off of this phone.

The memory card is in a bad spot but I disagree with all of the other stuff.

I did a test with the blackjack, 8525, treo 680, bb 7130, and the pearl for which phone rendered a web page the quickest and out of the four times I did it the blackberrys were number one three times (they came in second after the BJ)! Mind you I was in a 3G location where data speeds on a laptop were about 800-900KBps.

One thing where the bb's do dissappoint in is in advanced media capabilities. Unfortunately no ORB or other streaming video for this phone

As far as sure type goes, its no different than any other predictive text solution out there (I personally find it quite easy to use) but its a matter of opinion and its not for everyone, for me though I'm quicker on that then when using a qwerty keyboard.
