v360 reception question

I just picked up a V360 but I can hardly get 1 bar of signal strength out of it in areas my 3yr old Samsung gets full strength. It is set to capture in auto mode. I've tried it in both 800 and 850 and 1800 and still the same. Do you think its the phone thats bad or is it just the V360 model is a poor receiver?

Something is wrong with that phone. What area you are in?

I'm in Pennsylvania between Lancaster and Philadelphia and I'm with Cingular. I'm trying to get an RMA so I can return the phone but I'm not sure whether I want to stay with the V360 or not. Is the V360 normaly a poor receiving phone? This one I have is a true quad band phone not a tri band and the reception is so bad I can't make a call sometimes or I'm dropped off after 30 seconds because it loses a carrier signal. I'm wihtin line of sight of a tower that is maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile no buildings just farm land. The rest of the phones we use in my family in this area all have good reception.

That is weird, I have had my V360 for a year and gave my mom my back-up one because I have a V3i now. She is down south and loves it, currently my mom is on a cruise and called me twice while out at sea and I am surprise, I had to tell her to call only if it is an emergency or she will have a heck of a phone bill. But I am in the mid-west and I have no problem at all the reception is about the same as my V3i, I have never had them on side by side to know and I have unlocked it and my co-woker used it with Cingular for a bit. Yeah I say exchange...

Did you ever get your reception problem resolved? I am curious if it is because you had an unbranded quad band version that was not set up properly because I am looking at getting the V360 with no current T-Mobile phones with the same feature set for a reasonable price.

I sent it back and got another V360 unbranded phone it was much better than the first as far as reception goes but I broke down and migrated my old AT&T account over to the new AT&T and got a new Samsung Sync A707 and it has great reception in the same exact areas. I still have the V360 with lots of extras if your interested in it? Case, car and house chargers, data cable, phone tools cd etc. $80

the v360 is natively triband, but you can enable the 850 with the seem edit
