bluetooth/v3c question

Hello.
I have a BT dongle, it came with software "IVT Corporation BlueSoleil" version 1.6.1.4
When I connect my dongle to my computer, it finds it, starts the bluetooth services, etc, etc.
When I turn bluetooth on, on my phone, and hit search on my computer, it finds my phone, I can pair them, but I cannot transfer anything, it says "Service Discovery Failed." (This is all in BlueSoleil.)
To my understanding from what I've read, there's supposed to be something in My Computer that allows direct route to my cellphone? I have nothing bluetooth-related in My Computer. I've flashed my phone to Alltel (latest available flash.) Made the necessary seem edits and all that.
I have XP SP2. Just installed it (again). Anyone know what I might need to do to get my phone to appear?

If there's a how-to on this someplace, please, please give me the link. I suck at searching for things, so I probably didn't find any good ones in my attempts.

Thanks a lot!
Jake

edit:
I should also point out that I don't have a "My Bluetooth Places" option anyplace. Device manager does not show "Bluetooth devices" but rather "Bluetooth USB". I assume that's the problem. It's a real pain in the ***, to say the least. Why can't companies just use standards?!

this is the problem with the "less expensive" dongles that use third party software. you need to drag the computer file into the blue soleil phone folder to make a transfer. The "right click" direct transfer only works on microsoft dongles or "plug and Play" dongles that utilize microsofts embedded software. the extra 15-20 bucks is well worth it over the long haul!

I'm going to the mall tomorrow (there's a Target, Staples, Radio Shack and Best Buy there) so what would be the best (and cheapest) one for me to get? Any suggestions?

Thanks again!

i can't tell you who would be the cheapest - just that you won't regret the extra few bucks in the long run!
