V3x DAP on main menu?

With the original VF software, the DAP was on the main menu. I now have the unbranded version, but would like to have the DAP on the main menu, rather than in the Apps sub-menu.
Also, I am having difficulties editing the V3x menu using Menu editor. I am converting the mma_ucp first using mma_ucp convert. However, when I reconvert it after editing, it fails as invalid. I also get this even if I just convert, then try to convert back.
Thanks for any advise.
