k800 contact lookup problem

on my w810 i could easily search a contact by pressing more than one letter and it would narrow the search down,. I have a k800 and it does not allow you to press more than 1 letter to search with. Can anyone help

if you pause for more than 1 second between key presses whilst searching it'll jump to
that letter e.g. ..... press 7 Goes to P, pause, press 3 (for E) and it'll go to E, if you
press 7,3 quickly it should go to PE. I found this annoying at first but soon got used to it.
