Phone with good gaming control input for Homebrew/Emu Roms?

After DS, Gameboy mico and PSP, I figured out that I need a smart phone again that can play doom wads, nes roms, etc... As I only have space for one device on me at most times, and phone has number 1 priority, so my other toys always collect dust.
An HTC device with a slideout KB would be a bit too big for my liking.
So am looking at a smaller phone, prefferably S60 enabled but could be anything as long as it will run emus, with a control layout that would work well with games (dpad and 2 buttons on the right). Ngage is out of the question as it is hideous. I had a 6260, but the dpad on it was horrid, you could not pass 1st level of mario lol.
Price range is ~500 used. Prefferably with a 3mp + cam. I am eyeing N80, but I dont think the controls would work well for my needs.
Any ideas would be welcome
