The mini-USB plug will only fit in one way, with the wider side away from the bevel. Even the manual mentions you can plug the charger directly into the phone, and you only need the Y adapter to charge and listen to headphones at the same time. |

I use the supplied USB->mini-USB cable to sync my phone every morning, as well as charge it. In fact, it's plugged in right now, syncing. No Y adapter in sight. |
