Can't send tones anymore thru P800

Hi guys,

I have this weird problem with my P800. When I call my voicemail or any number that requires to dial digits via DTMF, it doesn't work anymore!! What I get is for instance, if I press "1" to get my new messages, the tone is not sent and the phone displays "1". If I try another digit (like "7") right after that, I get a "7" but greyed out and still, without the tone being sent!!

I also made sure to check if the don't send tone option is on but it's not!

Anybody has had this problem?? Please help!! I can't check my voicemail anymore!!

Thx.

usually when this happens, this feature has been disabled by the operator.

When the phone sends the tone out, it's not actually sending the tone out like voice (because reception can cause it to break up and not be detected by the other side properly). Instead, the phone signals the operator's exchange and the exchange is the one that generates the DTMF tone and acknowledges it to the phone.

If they turned this feature off accidentally (or on purpose), this would cause this type of effect. Try it with your other phone on the same SIM and you should get similar problems.

It works perfectly for me.

Oh, I'm sorry, you have the famous "DTMF" Virus on your P800 -- DO NOT SYNC YOUR PHONE !!! it starts out with this problem, and within a couple of days, your phone will end up irrepairably non-functional. You will have to purchase a new phone. DO NOT copy any info off the phone, to your computer !!!!!

Just kidding -- I am in a sarcastic, edgy mood -- T-Mobile intermittently has this problem. It is them, not you. I had in in New York a few weeks ago. They just fix it, and your tones will be back to normal. Nothing you can do. Unless you are a manager at T-mo

I can confirm the behavior mentioned by jeffharris. I get this once in a while with any phone on Tmobile.

Thanks to all of you!!! Yes, the tones are back and operational. I never knew it was on the operator side that they were sent. I always wondered what if interference comes in the middle of the tone...now I know!!!

Thanks again!!

Cheer.
