I get an "Incorrect Peramiters" message

When I plug my memory chip from my 9800 into my USB toi view the pics on my computer, I get an incorrect peramiters message. What do I need to do to get my computer to recognize my phone pics?
The picture titles DO come up on the screen, under the thumbnails. BUT, the thumbnails are all generic orange boxes with no pics.
My computer must be missing something that would recognize the pics, but I dont know what it is.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks !

Ok, I solved the first part. If I use the little scan disk adapter when I put the chip into the usb reader, my computer will recognize the images.
However, I can only move stuff OFF the chip onto my computer, not the other way around. If I try to put a pic or an mp3 ONTO the chip from the computer, I get a message saying the chip is "write protected" and that I cannot put anythng on it.
What step have I skipped ?
