I got the verizon motorola q and cingular 8525 and been testing the speeds all over chicago. I noticed in downtown the verizon data speed was a bit sketchy, speeds were not consistant and was slow. this was on LSD. however speeds ranged from 300kbps to 800kbps. Then the cingular 8525, I had the U icon on my phone the whole trip driving around from north to south in the city and the speed averaged from 500kbps to 900kbps, downtown speeds were consistant and quick. Even GPRS was good, averaging 140kbps at a bad signal location. I tried using both connections sitting in the same spot at a friends home and tested the connection speed through dslreports 600kb file, and for verizon I had around 600kbps and for ciingular I had 800-900kbps. Cingular's connection was consistant and didnt cut me out whereas the q lost its connection twice in 10 minutes.
When I purchased the phone yesterday I was hoping to see some cool speeds like over 1mbps and up but oh well.
one thing sucks is i live in a home where the area has bad reception for all tmobile, cingular, and verizon service so i cant take advantage of edvo or utms when im home. you think cingular will care if i email a complaint about the service receiption and data speeds and see if they will add a tower in the neighborhood?

verizon always sucked in most places i would go to in chicago...especially in my house...i've lived in lincolnwood and lincoln square area and cingular was always better for me...i have a work phone which is from verizon and ever since they gave me that phone i just have all calls forwarded to my cingular phone and I leave the verizon phone in my car for emergency purposes....

you can try to send in a complaint but they probably won't move any quicker than planned to perform their upgrade/additions unless a lot of customers are complaining.
