tether without bluetooth on treo 680.....

I was reading the guide for my treo 680, and it states a bluetooth adapter is needed to tether to my laptop for internet use. My laptop is not bt compatible, so you can see my issue. 
Im sure there is a way to tether without the use of bluetooth, but i cant figure it out. Since this is probably a repetitive post, can someone redirect me? or just help me out. Thanks ahead of time.

Not too sure, but if not, how about a bluetooth usb adapter for your laptop?

Any options to avoid that particular solution??? My district rep told me using the treo as a modem via bluetooth is a little slower than via usb.
