Blackjack or wait for the Treo 750...

I know, another 'or' post, but I'm sure there are others like me trying to decide. I respect the posters opinions, and would sincerely appreciate your feedback and advice. Here's where I stand, (and anyone else in the same boat, please add)

- I have 3g in my area
- email is most important. I'm on the road for business quite a bit (on a side note, i'd like to get the full version of yahoo, not the mobile version if possible)
- Internet browsing. I do a decent amount
- Sync with outlook notes is a must
- Be able to run slingplayer
-voice dialing via bt headset is a added bonus but not a necessity
- battery life, since I will have the phone checking email every 15. It must last the day
- processor speed. I dont want a device that lags.
- I like the exposed keyboard, so the 8525 is out

Thank you all in advance.

750...

had the blackjack and the battery life is somewhat absymal. you can use profimail for either device, which is a great external email system...

The only thing that holding me up from waiting for the 750 is its lack of HSDPA. Thats huge for me. I dont't know how to hack a phone, and slingplayer etc looks choppy over UMTS.....

My responses are in BOLD

-I have 3g in my area
Moot since both are 3G
- email is most important. I'm on the road for business quite a bit (on a side note, i'd like to get the full version of yahoo, not the mobile version if possible)
Both have the same capabilities (MS Exchange) and regular email (Pocket Outlook). Not sure about Yahoo!
- Internet browsing. I do a decent amount
Blackjack's Landscape orientated screen (320x240) would be better browsing than the Treo's Square 240x240 screen
- Sync with outlook notes is a must
Treo can sync with notes natively, the BJ cannot
- Be able to run slingplayer
Both can run sling
-voice dialing via bt headset is a added bonus but not a necessity
not sure
- battery life, since I will have the phone checking email every 15. It must last the day
Reports state the BJ has terrible battery life but it does come with 2...I hear the Treo 750 can last a day+
- processor speed. I dont want a device that lags.
Palm is THE expert in XIP ROM imaging, so the device is snappier than most (even the 8525 with the faster processor). Plus, the Treo has a faster processor than the BJ anyways.
- I like the exposed keyboard, so the 8525 is out

Thanks import.

The BJ can't sync notes? That might be a deal breaker. Whats your take on only having UMTS?

HSDPA will be available for it. Cingular will most likely release it with this update...it would be stupid of them to do so...well now that I think of it they have done stupid things before so who knows really.

well UMTS is pretty fast by itself....you can hack it to use HSDPA but I doubt you'll have to wait THAT long to get an official upgrade.

so wait for the 750 is the consensus?

I have owned the Treo 600 & 650 both have been horrible PIM's and phones. I can't imagine that the next version using the same tired old Palm platform will make a huge difference. From the list of requirements I would suggest a BBerry, used it loved it my new company doesn't support it. I use th blackjack for work checking email continuously, on the phone at least 4-5hrs for work alone... The extended battery has solved many of the power issues, although it should've been included with the phone not as an accessory. There are plenty of apps out there that will meet and exceed your requirements I would suggest finding a stable device.

BJ can sync notes, this is an extra that Samsung have added. There is a built in notes application and there is an activesync plugin on the CD that comes with the phone that will allow you to sync your notes with your computer. Even if the Blackjack didn't have this capability out of the box (which it does) you could use something like smartphonenotes to get the same capability.

Thanks guys, now I'm torn again. Ive been using an unlocked pearl so I'm not in a rush, just jonesing for a new phone.

For those that have a bj, will the standard battery last all day with me checking email every 15 mins?

I have mine setup to automatically check my personal IMAP email and my XpressMail company email every 30 mins. I have no problems with it lasting all day, but this is all going on in the background without the display and it just plays a sound when I get mail. I don't think it'd last all day if you were to manually send/receive every 15 minutes.

Your picture makes me laugh, thanks for the info....

Maybe i'll just suck it up and wait?
