is the 6700 limited to a 1gb MiniSD or does it support larger?
It's the Sprint one if that matters

Posted by: sheureka

It supports 2GB at least - I don't think a legitimate 4GB has been released yet so I don't know about that. - sheureka

I use a Transcend 2GB card for my GPS maps, and it works great for me. My 6700 is the Alltel version, which appears to be fundamentally identical to the Sprint version.

I'm using a Corsair 2GB miniSD with my 6700. This was the only 2GB miniSD with a 5 star review rating on NewEgg and a few reviews specifically mentioned using it in a 6700.

I am using the Kingston 2gb. I got it off ebay for $30 shipped. Works fine... still get DSOD with or without it... trying a new fix to see if it works.

+1 for the Corsair 2GB. No problems.

I've been using a 2gb miniSD on my Verizon 6700 since day one.
Same goes for my wifes phone.
Neither phones has had any issue w/ the cards.
BTW - I bought the cheapo eBay brand, Topram.

Thanks eBay!

I've been using the 1 gig Sandisk, the 2 gig Topram for ~6 months without any problems. There are people that claim that they have gotten the 4 gig SDHC cards to work by re-formatting the card in FAT32 and transferring a file via the PC first. The 4 gig non-SDHC cards seem to be working as well.

I'm glad to hear the 2gig Kingston is gonna work. I already ordered it before checking here first!

anyone get the 4gb mini sd card to work with the 6700. it just freezes the phone and doesnt even get recognized by windows. its a transcend 4gb minisd

Posted by: vzmule

I found this thread on a google search to find out if the new minisd 4gb cards will work on the xv6700 / ppc6700. I was able to get a 4gb card to work with the 6700, so I'm posting here with a definitive answer.

The 4gb mini sd card WILL work on the xv6700. I researched the bigger minisd cards and found that there are traditional minisd cards and MiniSD HC, which is high capacity. The confusing part about that is that all the 4gb MiniSD were advertised as "high speed" and not HC (high capacity).

Finally, my experience and how you can easily make a 4gb MiniSD card work in your 6700:

Based on google searches, I bought my 4GB MiniSD card from the user on ebay "grassroots-computers (http://myworld.ebay.com/grassroots-computers)" The 4GB card was listed as "High Speed" not high capacity, so to this day I'm still not sure if the card I have is officially considered HC or not. Anyway, the card came quickly from that seller and when I put it in my phone, it didn't realize it had a card in it, so I quickly concluded that it wasn't formatted, or if formatted, not in the right file format. The card from that seller on ebay came with a free SD adapter and I lucked out because I just today realized I have a built in card reader in my laptop. I put the card in the SD adapter and put it in the card reader. The laptop with windows xp found the card and gave me the option of formatting it only in FAT32. I formatted the card as FAT32 and put it back in the phone. It instantly saw it and was able to use it.

Summary:
- The 4 GB MiniSD cards work in the XV6700 / PPC6700.
- They seem to come unformatted and the 6700/Windows Mobile doesn't have a format option so you'll need to have or borrow an SD card reader to format it. Windows XP will format the card fine.
- FAT32 works fine for Windows Mobile & the phone.
- The ebay seller "grassroots-computers (http://myworld.ebay.com/grassroots-computers)" sells the 4 gig cards that will work in the 6700.

Hope this was helpful. This is the information I was looking for when I was trying to buy a 4 gb card for my 6700.

let me make sure I understand 4gb mini sd will work but 4GB mini SDHC Flash Card will not work I noticed that these are now available on newegg

Posted by: tuminatr

let me make sure I understand you are saying that a 4gb mini sd will work but a 4GB mini SDHC Flash Card will not work is that what you are saying ? I only say that because I just noticed that the 4GB mini SDHC Flash Card are now avalable on newegg for like $40

Posted by: xmind2006

Do NOT get a 4GB SDHC card, get a non-SDHC card.

Posted by: tuminatr

thanks I think I am just gonna get a 2gb one they are rely cheap right now $19.99 at newegg with free shipping

Posted by: vzmule

Correct, the high capacity won't work.

I tried buying another card from another seller on ebay to test it, and it will not work in my laptop, camera, or 6700. The only way it is readable is through the usb adapter that came with it, which doesn't help us on our 6700s.

The title of the auction for the card that didn't work was
"133X OEM 4GB MiniSD Secure Digital Card 4 GB Mini SD 4G" seller of that one that didn't work was fastmemoryman. The 4gb card that did work was sold by grassrootscomputers.

Hey there everyone... I have a XV6700 from Verizon Wireless.

I had two 2gb MicroSD cards and saw the 4gb MicroSDHC card... and got it today.

I came home to find out that my device wouldn't recognize the card. I tried the re-formatting thing and it didn't work for me. I was about ready to give up, when I found this post: http://discussion.wmexperts.com/showthread.php?t=152257

I used the .cab file from the first poster and it worked! My 6700 can now read the MicroSDHC card and it still reads my MicroSD cards!

I had to share my experience, since everyone else has gone out of their way to be helpful.

I know the 2gb mini sd works because that's what I'm using.
I also know the 4gb works because MANY people have made claims of them working.
My question: will an 8gb micro-sd work with a micro-sd to mini sd adapter?
