What's up with activesync on the Blackjack?

Just curious, but I've noticed that activesync is always running on the blackjack whether it is connected to a computer or not. I use task manager pretty frequently just because I don't like to leave a lot of programs running, and I always see activesync in the task pane. I'll shut it off and later when I pop back into task manager, lo and behold its back on again. Why does the Blackjack need to have activesync up and running all the time when its not connected to a computer? My SMT5600 with Windows mobile for smartphones 2003 never did this so is this a windows mobile 5 thing or something unique to the Blackjack?

Sounds like a Windows OS problem.

oops, guess I wasn't clear. It's the task manager on the Blackjack the keeps showing activesync, not the PC. Activesync works fine on the PC, it just always seems to be active and running on the Blackjack for no apparent reason.

Its supposed to run in the background that is how its designed. However for people who don't use it its more of a nusence than a blessing.

Can anyone possibly post a step by step to setup activesync for Blackjack. I know you are supposed to setup partnership via usb before bluetooth I think. I have had several phones with activesync and never had this kind of problem. I have tried for hours and nothing. Using activesync 4.2 and XP. Please anybody!

I am not quite sure what you are asking, but setting up a USB based Active Sync is trival. Just plug it in and it works. The only restriction I am aware of is that ActiveSync has a limit to the number of simultaenous device profiles it supports. As a result a few times I have had to delete an old devices profile when added a new one.

Camping on to this thread --

ActiveSync just stopped recognizing that my BlackJack was plugged in.

Does the full search and can't find it; does the troubleshoot and finds no problems.

I've verified that everything on PC and Blackjack is set to USB, etc.

Any thoughts?

This is my problem too. ActiveSync just seems to start itself for no reason and it is always running after a reboot. Never have seen this on a WM5 Smartphone before (Q or Dash).
