Hey i sell cingular in the state of Pa but when i get the question about how much the taxes are on the plans i always just say about 20%. is that an accurate assumption or any1 know how to determine whats the amount thats taxed on plans?

20% is a good rough estimate depending on your Local. Here it's around 14%... Then you kindly tell them that the CSS will give a more accurate estimate of thier taxes based on the plan they choose.

Use your figure with the promise of a better estimate after they activate.

The css is an estimate as well and I think it uses 28% for its calculation.

And here I thought this would be about how harshly we get taxed on our commissions.

Yeah.. I just said that it's a "Better" estimate. 28% is local dependant. Our CSS here is right on the money, on a base 39.99 plan with no add-on's it puts the bill at $50.xx... which is exactly what the bill comes out to be, barring any billable charges(the change will vary, that's pretty accurate in my book).

I think the margin of error increases with Add-on's, and the system might not be able to compute some local taxes because they can vary greatly from one area to another.
