us cllular cripples kx5

completly baffled by the kx5 not being able to connect via bluetooth, I went to US cellular and found a really helpful tech. He told me that they cripple all blutooth features other than headset. He suggested getting new software to avoid the US cellular crippling.
That really sucks, Why do they take a fully loaded phone and make it a brick?
Anyways, what software should I be hunting for?
