This popped up recently on an Italian I believe forum I go to, either Italian or Spanish. Looks like the K1m VZW firmware."

Thanks to jlbrightbill for the post. I can confirm that this works. Good luck!

you used a monster file to flash your K1m to alltel it looks like so you should know what it is.

its the file that lets you flash your phone.

Same as any other firmware/flash file. If you flash your phone with it, it will upgrade/downgrade your phone to that firmware version.
A Monster file is just more complete than a super upgrade flash file, which is more complete than a regular upgrade flash file.
A Monster file should replace everything or nearly everything on the phone, so it will be in a new-out-of-the-box state, just like if you bought it from the particular carrier with that particular firmware on it.

Posted by: PCGuRu2K

So this firmware since it's from vzw will convert my current krzr vzw to a original Motorola interface with all the proper vzw settings?

Posted by: jlbrightbill

No, this will make your phone exactly like it was when it was purchased from VZW, including the red UI, partially disabled Bluetooth, etc.

Posted by: PCGuRu2K

Got it... Cool thanks.. So I guess this is for ppl that try the Alltel Monster Flash on their vzw phone and end up messing it up or just wanna return back to the orginal for vzw service

Posted by: jlbrightbill

Pretty much, it's also good to have things like this available in case something on the phone gets messed up.

Posted by: stopbuggingme

this is so tight, i thank whoever found this a million times, this means i am now able to flash alltel and not worry about not being able to go back!!!!!!

I was thinking the same, and after reading this went ahead and flashed my phone with alltel, now that I have the Moto UI, I'm thinking, once they get MMS working for everyone, who the hell would want to go back?!

What we really what is the PR K1m flash.

Posted by: jacks0091

would this flash work on a VZW v3m?

I wouldn't try it.
The Verizon V3m Monster File is available - why would you want to use the k1m's firmware?

Now THAT would be a find...the Puerto Rican Verizon K1M Monster!!!

Anyone have it!!!! (Thought I 'd give it a shot since we've been flooded with all sorts of Monster finds!)

I flashed my backup phone to the VZW Monster to make sure it was safe before flashing my main phone. After flashing it i was able to program the phone via *228. When I flashed my main phone but it will not get a signal to program. It just says "No Service".. I then flashed the main phone with the Alltel Monster and was able to get a signal. When I flash to VZW Monster no matter what I try it's like the phone antenna is dead.

Any thoughts as to why?

Posted by: caifan805

Did you backup your ERI, PRL, or NAM before flashing?

After flashing back to VZW from the Monster Alltel, I found the same thing. I just reloaded my ERI and PRL, but then...I found that I couldn't connect to *228 with those two files alone. I then reloaded the NAM file and I could easily dial *228 and subsequently re-activate the phone via option 1.

Posted by: Pheyd

I can dial*228 with Altell not Verizon which doesn't make since.

Posted by: id4rox

Am I missing something as to why you would need to backup and replace the ERI/PRL/NAM like caifan805 suggests? Isn't the trick of the monster to make the phone identical to how it was when you got it from verizon? IE with working ERI/PRL/NAM/everything?

I'm flashing my phone (not on alltell, just have some mods and missing images/screensavers/banners/etc) tonite/tomorrow so I can return to the store, I'm having a problem with the ear piece.

Am I missing something with having to back up these files before using the monster? I read a guide by mark that says to just follow a flashing guide (which doesnt mention backing those up) then do *221 opt. 1 to get it working.

Should be no need to back anything up right? They should all be restored and functional after 221?

Flash to VZW will bring it back to it's virgin state. I flashed a Sprint K1m to VZW that way. No reason to back up anything since you can do a *228 option 1.

My backup backup phone is pre-production so no telling what's going on there.

Posted by: failurbydesign

i flashed and cant do the *228, i didnt back up anything...anyone have those files???

Posted by: jlbrightbill

*22899, try that

Posted by: failurbydesign

it just sits with activation in progress..then i get activation failed...the vz site nows i have the phone too...

Posted by: failurbydesign

i upped a prl, which got my roaming icon away, but it did nothing..

V3M flashed with cricket k1m firmware does any one know if it would work?
since cricket does not have a v3m firmware and i could still use the transflash

Posted by: !-OMAR-!

as ive said before hopefuly this month a leak of a bell k1m flash which has java enabled i think theres a really good chance that they will leak thi firmware because this firmware is set to be launched this month and its suppost to enable java on bell phones because the firmware on those phones isnt complete so i think that will b the best firmware flash for the k1m

um... flashing a V3M with the K1M Firmware is not a good idea, i dont think you should try it....

Posted by: 4218kris

do you think it would totally brick it or could i flash back?

Posted by: 4218kris

do you think there is a cricket firmware that might work for this

"*" + "#" + "END" should always work as long as there is no hardware/physical damage done.

Ahhh yes.. SHOULD... but not always... remember there are some reports of bricking phones when trying to get the Bell flash on the Verizon E815... etc...

4218kris, Personally, I would NOT flash with firmware meant for a different model.

Posted by: hachu

No guarentee. *+# is either a feature of the minibootloader or the bootloader. If you flash with a monster, they usually overwrite those.

If the other phone has the keypad addressed differently, pushing those buttons won't work. Although there's also a chance that they've been mapped to two other buttons you can push, but I don't think anybody here's going to want to try to reboot the phone while trying every combination of two buttons

Not to mention that K1m firmwares don't work on the V3m, period.

Posted by: 4218kris

thanks i guess i wont try to flash it and brick my v3m after all by flashing it with k1m

Posted by: deanfinder

Could someone please post this to Rapdishare? I cannot access any files on Badongo. I would appreciate it!

Posted by: bassix

Even as a registered free user, the Badongo file is not downloadable at the moment.
Can someone please repost the K1m VZW Monster firmware file?

I, like deanfinder, would appreciate it very much!

Reuploaded links for the VZW K1m (24.1_00.25.0c) Monster File.
Just pick one, it's the same file, different mirrors:

RapidShare
Megaupload

What do you do with the file once you have it? I just bought a used K1M and at bootup, the former owners name comes up. Would like to reset that. Otherwise phone is fine. Any other suggestions?

Posted by: ToRmEnTeD

Can anyone please try and help me. I just bought a MOTOKRZR k1m from Verizon...When i plug it into the usb port of my computer last night i had some problems getting it to find the right drivers for it but i somehow got it to work and was able to add some ringtones and change the dumb verizon pic on the outside screen when the phone is open....But then we lost my HD this morning and i now have a new drive and installed my Windows Xp Home edition, Updated it 100% to service pack 2 and did all the recomended updates ...I cant get it to find drivers at all now
I have tried the USB drivers, The Motorola Software Update and the Driver tool...I am stuck. If anyone can point me toward anything that might help me i would greatly apprecate it

Posted by: 4218kris

did you install motorola phone tools it might help im not 100% sure though

Posted by: ToRmEnTeD

Yup i have tried everything and cant get it to find the drivers ...I had it working a couple days ago before my HD crashed..Now the ONLY thing that im doing different is that i am using XP Home with SP2 ..Was using XPpro SP2
Im going to install XP Pro as a second Operating system on my computer tonight and see if maybe its something in the versions of windows that causes it not to work..I have found ALOT of post on this site and others where people are having problems like mine. But i have had it working so i KNOW it can work. Just gotta figure out what the problem is and how to work around it. I never seem to pick the easy phones to mess with . My last one was a Motorola V325...Took a long time for me to find the right combo of drivers/software to make it work right. I expect now that this phone will be just as time eating

Posted by: henrypower

I flashed my verizon k1m to this file and didn't back up anything. I am unable to activate my phone. I tried dialing *22899 but nothing worked. Is there any way to restore my phone to working order?

Posted by: kbman

You need to manually program the phone with your MIN, MDN(your 10 digit number) and your home SID. You can do this by keying in quickly without pauses 74663# clr clr and it will take you to User Activation where you will find those fields plus IMEI which is left as it is.

If you don't know your home SID you can use 2004 which is a general SID registration that should work to get *228 option 1 to work and program the phone with the current PRL and your home SID.

Thanks a lot for the help! I appreciate it.
