Hey everyone, I just want to know whats the best way to load ringtones onto my Pearl. I have a bunch of them left over from my days with Nextel. Also, what format do video clips need to be in so that they will play on the screen? Thanks very much in advance.

Almost forgot! What is ther correct format for ringtones to be accepted by the phone? Thanx

You can always transfer your tones over via usb using the desktop manager. As for supported files types for audio and video see this link.

My nextel i860 required ringtones to be saved in a very specific mp3 bitrate (mono). Those ringtones won't play on my pearl.

No big deal, I downloaded Audacity 1.3 Beta (free). It can chop your favorite mp3 song into a 15 second ringtone segment and also amplify the volume and do any other effects you want.

Good call. Audacity is great. I've been using it to slice songs up for ring tones for a couple of years now. I can't believe such a great piece of software is open source!

So wait the Pearl plays .wav ringtones?

I am not sure if it will play WAV files or not, I haven't tried. After I cut the tracks out in Audacity, I used the LAME MP3 encoder.

It should. If I'm correct, The audio specs on under pearl playback specifications (link posted by synncere) note WAV as an accepted audio playback format.
