Blackjack battery saving tips :)

Here are a few that will help the BJ battery to last longer. Keep in mind that most smartphones/PDAs require a recharge every night if you use heavily (I am a medium-heavy voice/data user and I have experienced this with imate, Nokia S60 too)

BJ Battery Saving Tips:

1) Screens eat up most of the battery. Reduce screen brightness level to 1 (or 2 if you like bright screens):
Settings-PowerMgmt->DisplayBrightnessLevel=1

2) Reduce display backlight and timeout time (not keyboard), ideal 20 seconds:
Settings-PowerMgmt->DisplayBrightness-> then both Displaybacklight (dims the screen) and Displaytimeout (switches screen off)

3) Custom time keyboard time to work only between 5:00pm to 7:00am (or whatever you like):
Settings-PowerMgmt->KeypadBacklightOn=custom

4) BJ does not disconnect data. So, manually disconnect from 3G/EDGE if you know you won't require data services for long:
Power->WirelessMgr->Menu->Disconnect Cellular Data

5) Modify profile to either decrease or switch off warning or system sounds. These are the stupid dings that windows make at every question/alert/etc. This won't save much battery, but if you are picky and don't like extra noise then you may want to switch this off.

6) For those who dont care about 3G, there is a thread on the forum which explains how to switch it off. 3G eats a lot of battery as compared to GSM/EDGE. I got the phone for 3G so this is not an option for me.

7) ABOVE ALL, drain your new battery 3-5 times for it to reach its maximum performance. Charge it fully, use the phone till the battery dies, then recharge it to full. Repeat 3-5 times for every new battery.

The second slim battery or extended fat battery can help, but honestly who wants to carry another battery or a fat phone

Feel free to add more tips

Wirelessly posted (SAMSUNG-SGH-I607/I607FG1 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; Smartphone; 320x240))

I've done all these things and I AM VERY SATISFIED with my battery life. Unless I stream music for sevral hours I don't use my 2nd battery.

Will it ask me each time if I want to reconnect cellular data now?

#7 is not required for this type of battery technology. IME, the batter life will improve after a few days with no special care, but regular charging.

Ok, nevermind will it ask me to reconnect all the time... Although I disconnect cellular data, it does not seem to retain that setting for long. After a few minutes I'll look at my phone and it'll show 3G again. What gives?

If you have an application that is running and requires data connection, then it should reconnect automatically without asking. I mostly use IE/RSS and they connect only if needed, else data remains disconnected.

Perhaps mailwatcher? I guess I can't have the best of both worlds...

Another one that I missed:

8) Switch off Bluetooth when not in use. This is helpful only for those who use it for defined periods, like while driving to work etc. Its easy, just hit "Fn and B", this will toggle BT on and off.

What is the standby time and talk time on the standard battery following all of these tips including disabling 3G?
