Weird Text Characters on my V3i

HI there... I just flashed a US English Language pack to my V3i, so that voice commands would recognize US English and not require UK English.

However, now I have a new problem that I can't figure out. Now the phone has English, French, Spanish and Portugese languages available. I have it set to English. NOw when I try to find a listing in my contacts or send a text message to someone I get all kinds of weird, foreign characters, which is making searching and creating messages extremely difficult and time consuming.

The files that are in the phone's c:/VST folder are:

CD_0001.def
CD_0003.def
LP_0001.ver
LP_0003.ver
PR_0001.def
PR_0003.def
VP_0001.def
VP_0003.def

Can anyone tell me how to fix this so I don't get the foreign words and accented characters showing up when I search or send text messages and focus entirely on English?
