Anyone using firmware 6.27 on their 9300i?

The 6.27 firmware update supposedly offers some much-needed improvements to Nokia's web browser, and I'm wondering if the improvements make the browser usable now with images turned on. My 9300i with 5.50 firmware can't even load most web pages using the Nokia browser, even with a solid wifi connection. I'm just wondering if the new firmware is worth the $30 it will cost to have it updated. Thanks.

I usually browse with JavaScript, plugins (this probably means Flash) and even images all turned off. Depending on what sites you frequent, this might work. For me it works very well - I like opening 3-5 browser windows at the same time, opening a page in each, then reading them as they load.
Loading images makes the network to be the bottleneck, while JavaScript stresses the slow CPU of the phone. If you want to take a step towards "the real web", you could probably turn the images on. I've tried it and it was all right. The only reason it is a bit slower than loading the same site on a PC with tethering is that doing the HTML layout, like JavaScript, is a CPU-intensive activity.
Another possibility might be to set up your own ad-cleaning proxy that'll remove ads and maybe even some scripts from the HTTP stream before it even reaches the phone, hence making the phone's job easier. I haven't tried this.
