Unlocked Dash won't unlock

I just purchased a Dash & used imei-check to unlock it - I use Cingular as my carrier. I'm getting a good Cingular signal, but any button I press brings up the 'Unlock" info screen. Unfortunately, the '*' button either is not active or simply doesn't work. Phone remains locked. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of problem? HELP PLEASE!

i assume you're referring to the screen lock on the dash... if so, have you turned the phone off and back on, then retry? if that doesn't work, consider a hard-reset...

Thanks, Cortez...I've tried powering on and off - no dice. How do you do a hard reset? I can't find any references in the documentation.

Since you won't be able to get to the internal settings to reset, you will have to use this alternate method:

-Turn off the device
-Press and hold hold the two softkeys
-At the same time hold down the power button for 1 or 2 seconds and release
-Then release the softkeys
-Follow the screen prompts

Fantastic...Thanks, Cortez. That worked and everything is now working exactly as expected. I'm a happy camper.

Your welcome. I'm sure Cortez would have answered you as well. I happen to see your post one afternoon, saw you were on-line, and thought I answer. Happy New Year.

gbird how has your experience been with Dash on Cingular what features work and are there any that dont work

RAJR, So far I've run into no problems. Everything seems to function as advertised, though I haven't had a chance to try every feature as yet. The biggest problem awas getting the correct MMS and GPRS settings from Cingular - nobody I spoke to in 2 1/2 hours, even their ANS department, had a clue. To their credit, though, they did finally patch me through to a techie in HTC who had me up and running in about ten minutes. I do plan to make some registry changes for functions like joggr, and will probably flash it with the latest S620 ROM (hate those T-Mobile flash screens). Overall, I love this phone - and I've been through quite a few, including two Blackberry models. If you're considering it, I say go for it. Great product.

thank you john an cortez, i had the same problem.

I have been using a dash that I unlocked and flashed to the original S620 ROM... and I will say I have had ZERO problems in the 4 weeks I have been using it. My only issues have been smartphone software just seems VERY limited. Comming from Treo 650 and 8125... I thought there would be alot more software. Otherwise, Great lil device..

where would one get the 620 rom.....thanks
