I had put this question in the Sprint forum.

I've never owned a pda before and recently got a 700p. I was getting bored with the same old flip/slider phones for 10 years so I made the leap to the 700p. After playing around with it for a couple of days now, one thing still bugs me is that I can't remove the "sprint" word on the main display on the top left. Can this even be done?

Any other tips & tricks would be greatly be appreciated. I have not installed any programs yet so if you recommend a good one, please detail an instruction. Thanks

My recomendation of must have apps are as follows:

Ringo Pro (different MP3 ringtones per person in your address book)
Buddy Backup.. allows a full Palm backup to your SD card
Salling Clicker... if you are an avid music listener, remote for iTunes to your PC/Mac
VeriChat... AIM/ MSN/ ICQ messaging... unfortunatly it has been discontinued, look around for a copy
Google Maps.. simply Google Maps

Those are the apps I use the most, including pTunes which comes loaded on the Treo 700p and Treo 680. As for the Sprint logo issue, do you mean when you turn it on/ off or it is always in the corner of the screen in the Palm OS?

Thanks fishera for those recommended apps. As far as the "sprint" word, it's not when I boot the pda on/off. It's when the phones on. When I press the phone button, the "sprint" word is on the top left corner.

Oh that will always be there. On mine it is T-Mobile, Cingular's say Cingular, so on. It is part of the phone application.

If you want to customize your dial screen(as I do), then try an app called Dial by Photo. Its a replacement fot the dial screen that looks really neato & removes the provider name.

Hi,

I've had alot of trouble HotSyncing my Palm Treo 700p. I'm a Mac user with OS 10.3.9 I've called Palm alot, gotten some competent assistance, but it's taken many times to get to the bottom of the issue. It's a *****! Is there any easy, smooth way. I'm only using the Palm software, not iSync in my Mac. Any smart advice for my "smartphone" (Ha! ha!), would be appreciated.

If you can tell me why you need to hotsync, and if it's not an issue of needing to sync contacts, then I can help you.

I'm scratching my head on this one. I've used Palm software for years, and haven't had any problems syncing since we got to OS 10.1.0

I'm also running 10.3.9 and just upgraded from a Tungsten E2 to a Treo 680 with no problems.

You have the "user name" the same on the hand held and the desktop software? And you have Hot Syncing "enabled" and the connection set up to look for the Treo via the USB?

If all of the above is true and it still won't sync, I would try to find out if the cable is bad. If you have Blue Tooth, you could try that. I got it to work once with my E2, but it always seemed easier to just plug in the cable, so I never really used that method.

good luck.
