1. What wireless carrier? 2. What firmware is on your phone? 3. What software are you using? And EXACT VERSION NUMBER (usually found via by using ABOUT from the HELP Pulldown menu in the software) 4. Are there any error messages? if so, what is the EXACT TEXT of the message? |

1. Connect the phone to the computer without opening the Motorola Phone Tools (MPT). 2. Once it is connected, right-click on My Computer icon that is on the Desktop and select properties. 3. On the System Properties window that is going to open go to Hardware and click on Device Manager. 4. On the Device Manager check under Modems and under Other Devices, check for an item with a yellow exclamation mark by the name of Motorola Phone, Motorola Phone or Motorola USB Modem. 5. Once you locate the item with the exclamation mark right click on it and select Properties. 6. Go to Driver and select Update Driver. 7. On the windows that is going to pop-up select the option that says 'No, not this time' (You may not see this window, if not go to the next step). 8. Select the option that says 'Install from a list or specific location' and click next. 9. Select the option that says 'Include this location in the search', uncheck the other one and click on Browse. 10. On the windows that pops-up go to My Computer, go to the local disk C:, go to Program Files, go to Motorola Phone Tools or Mobile Phone Tools, go to INF, select the folder that says W2K XP USB DRIVERS and click Ok. 11. Back to the wizard click next. 12. Click Finish. 13. Close all the windows and open Motorola Phone Tools and it should recognize the phone now. If the software is still not recognizing the phone follow the next instructions: 1. When you see the picture of the phone, click on the menu button. 2. Go to Setup and select General Setup. 3. Go to Communications and click on Change Modem. 4. On the wizard that is going to pop-up click next. 5. Select the Motorola USB Modem from the list and click next. 6. Check the box that says 'Do not automatically detect' and click next. 7. Under Motorola CDMA look for the phone, select it and click next. 8. Click Finish and click Ok on the other window. |
