Strobe and kMpt

I have a strobe from alltel and Kyocera Mobile phone tools, I can get it to connect to the phone but not read or transfer anything to it? I can dial the phone and get the status but nothing else. What am I forgetting? Is there something in the bluetooth setup I'm missing a certain service that needs to be started or something?
Any help would be appreciated, I found quite a few threads about it but no answers just "wow got it to work" type stuff. Hopefully someone remembers what they did 
Just want to be able to grab the pics off of it maybe put a ringtone or two on there.
