Did T-MO Update, now getting errors...

Ever since I did the T-Mobile upgrade, I keep getting java errors when I "smart dial" a name on the phone to pull them up. Anyone else getting this problem? Trackballing the "OK" and starting over usually works fine, but it is rather annoying. It happens at least two or three times a day (I use the phone a lot).

bump... noone is running into this?

I've gotten these errors too, probably once or twice a day. It is frustrating, but not the end of the world. I have no clue what's causing it/what could help fix it/etc, but just thought I'd confirm that you're not the only one experiencing this.

I don't get the error, and I have done the T-Mobile update. I tried smart dialing a few of my contacts to see if I voild get the error to pop up, but it worked fine every time. Be sure to let us know if you find a solution.

Did you make sure to download the Pearl firmware, and not the 8700 firmware?

When I had the 6710, I accidentally downloaded the 16MB version (I had the 8MB version), and it laggggggggggggged my phone and gave me tons of errors.

Come on; the 8700 firmware can not and will not load onto a Pearl.

No, I can assure you I loaded the Pearl software... I have found talk on other threads now about this, but no ongoing updates.

Que? I swear it asked me to update the firmware when I plugged in my Pearl/8700? Hmm, then again, I have like 10 different firmwares on my comp.

You can not load the 8700 firmware onto a Pearl. It will not prompt you to, either.

I downloaded the v4.2.0.69 from Cingular and installed it on my T-Mobile Pearl. I deleted the Vendor.xml file per instructions elsewhere here (via Gibbs). Restored backup file.

I seem to have lost internet data capabilities, although everything else on the phone appears to be working. I can't connect with my BES, nor is there any internet access.

Any ideas what I'm missing?

I am going to possibly try installing the T-Moble v4.2.0.64, and not delete the Vendor.xml file, and see if that works.

Is there some setting I can change with the v69 installed to get things working?

I'm on the edge of my technical abilities here, and could use some much appreciated guidance -

Thanks!
Bruce in TN.

Does it show "EDGE" in the upper right hand corner (I am guessing not).
Try popping the battery out and in.

Shows "GPRS" in upper right.
Tried battery out/in, but still no data connect.
Found another post about ".. after the update you most likely won't have your web browser so you'll have to call customer care and get transfered to BB tech support to have them resend those settings as well."
Would that be the WAP settings? Are they standard for T-Mobile?
Thanks!

Found the answer:

Problem: Installed a new or reinstalled an existing O.S. (Operating System) onto your device and now you can not send or receive emails nor access the internet.

Solution: You need to reregister your device on the cellular network.

Go to [B]Options>Advanced Options>Host Routing Table. Click ybutton to the left of the trackball and choose "Register Now".

You will then have a message in your inbox stating that your device has sucessfully been registered with the network.

Within seconds (sometimes a matter of a few minutes), email will be active and a browser icon will appear on your homescreen, confirming that you are now receiving data service.

WORKS!!
