How do you activate a Cingular GSM Razr V3 bought off Ebay?

I just bought it off Ebay today. Seller has over 1100 98% pos. feedback. Phone advertised as branded Cingular with no scratches or defects and in excellent condition. Comes with battery and charger(all I need... I am a guy so I don't need a stupid manual
) Snagged it for $112.50. Anyways, if it needs the SIM card can I sit my lazy *** at home and activate it or do I need to go down to the Cingular store to activate? Do I need to tell them something besides "I got this on Ebay and need it activated"? I did browse the FAQ's here and didn't see anything. I am thinking they will be willing to help me more if I tell them my cousin from Hairyhole,Egypt gave it to me for a Christmas present
I have never had Cingular before so I can't lie and say my other prepaid Razr broke. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
thanks,Brian

I'm confused. Do you currently have cellular service right now? If not and you're wanting to start a new account to activate service, you will have to sign up for a minimum of a one year contract with Cingular which wouldn't make sense because you could have had a great deal on that phone by just singing a contract which you will have to do anyway to get service. Now if you just want PrePay service (which I think sucks your money from your pockets) you will have to go to Cingular store and get yourself a PrePay sim card. If you already have service with another GSM provider (ie: T-Mobile) and already have a sim card for that company, you will need to get your phone unlocked so that you could use it with any GSM service providers.

Nope, I do not have service with any company yet. This phone is unlocked. I do not know yet if it comes with a sim card and if it does not I can get one off of Ebay for .99 and 4.99 to ship. I have to do pre-pay. So can I call Cingular to activate over the phone when the sim card is installed? If I have to go to the store what should I tell them? I guess I just don't know if it's bad that I walk in there and tell em that I got it off of Ebay and had to buy the sim separately off Ebay too. thanks,Brian

It doesn't matter where you get your phone. Trust me, wherever you go, they WILL be happy to get your business. Also to add, you have an unlocked phone, therefore you are not stuck with having to use Cingular Service but in fact able to go to any GSM service providers out there.

I am sticking with Cingular because they have the cheapest pre-pay rate that I have seen on the Razr (besides Alltel). I do not want a different phone. I know it's a GSM and it's unlocked I noticed that when I was browsing for one. I just didn't know about what to say to Cingular or if I could activate it at home. thanks,Brian

-acquire an unactivated cingular sim card.
-enter the icc id# into cingular's online activation system.
-insert the sim card into the phone
-power the phone up & make your first phone call on your new account
note some local retailers in my area have the motorola c139 phone complete with sim card & a $10 activation credit for $20.
