Flashing your w810i? LOOK HERE!

Ok, I noticed MANY people want to flash their w810i to get rid of the hissing noise and make the volume of calls, ringtone and earpiece louder. Unfortunately most people don't know where to put what file and so on. SO, I decided to simply upload the files in the proper places. All you have to do is simply download the rar file, extract it to a folder and run PhoneXS.

What's Included:

-The W810i_CDA102494_2_EUROPE_2 customization pack (modified to work with America 2)
-W810_R4DB005_FS_AMERICA_2_RED49 flash file (not newest firmware, but the better one, removes hiss completely)
-W810_R4DB005_MAIN_GENERIC_HN_CID49 main file (not newest firmware, but the better one, removes hiss completely)
-Latest Qwerty's acoustics file (has MegaBass working)
-Zuzu 3 Camera driver (better picture quality?)

These are the basic files needed to flash the w810i (minus the camera driver, that's just a bonus :P)

These files also work on the k750 and SHOULD work on the w800 (REMEMBER TO CHANGE THE FIRMWARE AND CUSTPACKS FILES VERY IMPORTANT!!)

Thanks for putting it all in one area!

Some more custom packs

Make sure to shut off the shutter sound and enable flash menus on ALL custom packs. To do this, open up customize.xml (a file in the custom pack folder) with Notepad. Near the end, there is line that says enable_flash_desktop. Replace the word 'false' with the word 'true'. Do the same for suppress_shutter_sound.

Im using the v2.1 acoustic drivers, overall, im in love, however, the only drawback is background noise during playback and volume for headphones and speaker is too high for me. Others' experience with these? How does the final compare?

Also, PhoneXS 2.10 Alpha 5 (apparently no changes for the w810i) http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showtopic=6467#

Finally. Cam drivers. I went over to e-sato boards to investigate some on this topic. Wow, I am TOTALLY lost. ZUZU? Supercam? Hybrid? I don't know where to go on this one. Any experience with these drivers? Sugjestions?

for some reason, after 10-15 minutes....i get the "waiting for phone to disconnect" error....and my w810 turns on into USB mode...

On the SE-NSE forum....

"Waiting for the phone to disconnect" and phone turns on.

Need Answer!

Ok guys, here's what I've realised...putting in new menu and media player icons REALLY messes up the phones flash capabilities. It works fine for a while but right after it becomes really messed up and flash becomes disabled completely. So i DONT recommend using them at all....I'm in the process of reflashing my phone cause of this

hmm, so you said it messed up when you used the media player and the flash menus, right?

So would it mess up if you you use JUST the new mediaplayers? Or do we still not know for sure yet? And also, is the cam driver proven to work?

1) it does mess up when you upload JUST the mediaplayer icons as well

2) i get better quality with the cam driver, but saving takes a bit longer...well worth it in my opinion

Thanks! So right now i'm using the Hongkong FS + main Firmware. If I want to customize it as well, do I need to make my own customization file or can I use the one provided in the first post?

Another note, I don't think this phone is capable of displaying other asian characters on it except chinese right? Since there is a chinese firmware. I tries playing some songs in Japanese, but the titles show up as boxes.

Thanks, but I flashed my phone with teh hong kong files, and it worked, it was able to display japanese! But I can't start the phone at all it gives me "Configuration error, Please contact your network operator or service center" Do i need to use the customize pack function or something because I only flashed the FS and Firmware.

Yes your right finalizing=customize.xml. Thats the part that takes a lon time normally between 1-5 hours

OK, everything is working perfectly with the upload. Though I have a few questions..

1.) is everything we need in those files? ie, the camera driver as well?
2.) does this take away the shutter sound away as well, or do we have to do a few things to the custompack files first?
3.) whenever we are sposed to select the phone/custom pack, do we pick the "own_custpack" directory, or a different directory? Or is it a certain file in the directory to pick? Thanks!

i really doubt that, else everyone would purchase the phone from Rogers, unlock/debrand and then sell it for even more money...it'd make no sense why they'd do such a thing.

Thanks. Its running fine. Under the select customization options I chose the first America_2....../76 option. So far no errors but then again I am only a few minutes into the process and brute forcing currently. So when its done all I do is just pop my chip back in and I am set? The Finalize part that are referring a few posts up is confusing. Is that just part of the flash or something I need to reconfigure upon successful flash completion?

Well another success story here! Flashed using fungied.cheese's files. It froze up on my first attempt last night. Left the phone home all day charging for a second attempt. Got in and starting the new flash with a new flash driver around 5:45. It finished around 7:15. Got my setting for my network from SE website and installed. Back in business now. My first order of business was to try a phone to someone I was having issues with volume on ear piece and with them hearing me. Restored my contacts from my MS on the phone and made the call. Much better! Not only can I hear them well on 75% call volume level but they reported it was not muffled or distant sounding any longer either. So far this is as far as I got but I will play with the Walkman lastly but personally I just was dieing to have a better call quality. The only issue I can see as far from a quick glance is that in my shorts menu the Cingular online services short is missing and was replaced with a PlayNow short cut. It'll be my last thing because thats minor issue to me.

***Update: Camera Quality appears to have improved to a small degree(I am not a photo nut but in my opinion its quality after saving is better even if marginally better). Walkman works fine and no hiss though I must admit I never experienced a hissing noise prior either but its not in happening now either. Either way my goal of a louder ear piece and better call quality was achieved so I am overall super pleased with the outcome. Wish they sent the phone with these setups and drivers installed already but glad some have taken the time and effort to make it possible for us to correct this issue. Phone is 100 times more enjoyable.

Went from FM R4CK003 to R4DB005 and not going back.

Hey got a question for you, how big are the pictures that you are taking in KBs? Anything over 512KBs?

When I take complex pictures it comes out at around 500-550KB if your file size is bigger then yeah, the phone ain't compressing as much which is a good thing. Keep us informed...

as for the new zuza3 cam drivers...for me, ive noticed they actually compress MORE than the original that came with my branded Rogers phone...I think the cam drivers were 4.5 if im not mistaken.

i don't know much bout how camera compression works and so on...but isn't it the more its compressed the better the quality? something to do with pixel compression i think. correct me if i'm wrong.

hmm, i've always assumed that if any media items get compressed, it lessens the quality. Unless it's just temporarily compressed, then it'd preserve quality and lessen size (such as zipping or compressing files w/ winrar). But our phone and it's pictures don't hassle w/ that, so i'm guessing more compressed = worse quality? That or smaller resolution. The best quality you can get form a picture is it's straight up.. raw picture. If you hassle w/ changing anything in it (such as lessening/increasing resolution) or blending the pixels, then you get worse quality.

but like I said.. I'm not positive.

You have it back works. The lower the compression the high th quality, but the bigger the picture will be in KB. Vs high compression>>>> low quality. Also formats like windows .bmp are not compressed and have very good quality, however there size is 5-20 time more then a .jpg

here we have a normal shot from my w810i highest setting, real complex 514KB. I nice others that hit the 550 mark but i dont feel like looking for them.

That might be of interest to people who want to experiment with the w810i. It has all the folders and what file goes where. Really helps when you want to put in new drivers or flash files into your phone but don't know where. Mind you, this is from the w800 but since the phones have identical directories you can still use this (just remember to substitute it with the w810i files).

Now I'm hopin someone can figure out how to put on the A2DP profile hehe.

Ok, have tested out new camera drivers and I can't tell the difference between them and the originals. The only thing that i have noticed is that the new Camera drivers save the files a lot smaller. Talking about 100-150KB less then the regular drivers I could not break the 400KB even when taking complex macro shots where I normally get around 540KB

. I don't know why, cause i cant tell the difference between the picture quality. Don't know if its a good thing(seems to take less time between pictures) or a bad thing(lower quality/more compression)...

yea thats what im talking about....the file sizes are a lot smaller than originally. but again, same with me...i cant tell the difference....

K when I try to download the flash files via OP's sharebigfile.com link, the RAR file (when prompted to open or save) is only 173 bytes when it should be 19.81MB. Just me or anyone else getting this too?

I also have been taking pictures the file size seems smaller than before the flash. So not sure maybe its just compressing them more than before. Am no photo expert though but thats been my experience. Will keep looking into as I take photos off and on.

Not sure...Hmm..Have you tried going to TopSony and downloading the files individually. Weird.

It is possible, but we aren't nearly as skilled enough as we would need to be do that something like that...You have to remember, we would have to literally write the code, instead of just copying it from another phone model, like the K800...I hope we can do it in the future, though.

I just wanna increase my W810i volume and remove tat hiss sound(really fed up of it)
Can anyone tell me how to do it systematically

I also want to know if its possible to revert back to sony ericsson firmware using SEUS in case something goes wrong in the lfashing process

I just want to upgrade my w810i for louder volume and maybe get some new themes. Do I just flash my phone and then upload the theme files? the FW supplied is the second from the latest. The only thing you're missing out on is an update to Java.. which was SO minor that it's only noticeable to your phone... you'll have no idea of the difference. Don't worry.

adn that's because you need to update your USB drivers.

on ANOTHER note.. i just wanted to point out (and i'm DAMN PROUD) of this.. but this just goes to show that it's easily possible to flash nearly instantly, and sometimes takes 9 hours. It's taken me 9 hours the first time, and I just started flashing now hoping that it would be done by 2morrow morning, and AMAZINGLY, it had finished in time for the movies 2night

.. check it, only 6-7 MINUTES!! Also, i'm sorry, but I left the "end" flash-log on the top, and the "beggining" of the flash on the bottom. If NO ONE believes me, then can someone tell me how I can copy/paste the entire log on here, cuz I have no idea how to get it.. it only lets me select individual commands, rather than copy/paste.

oh.. you mean this happens mid-way thorugh your flashing. If that's the case, then just try again, there was a connection glitch. This has happened ot me a few times, and simply restarting fixed it. As far as the "restarting" may damage your phone.. don't worry about that. No "permanent" damage... just "temporary" damage. This means, you won't be able to use your phone until you get it flashed correctly if you interrupt the flashing process. Basically.. the most damage that can be done on your phone is how you have it right now. Restart the flashing process and just wait longer :/

probably not. they most likely wouldn't give you the phone acoustic/flash menu/camera files that are REALLY beneficial. also, you could get unlocks from davinci team for about $10 CDN...all you need is the service cable.

i got a problem, i was flashing my phone and everything was going well with the flashing, but then when it came to the custom part where it says its going to brute force, it was doing something then it said disconnecting , then reconnecting and it wont connect anymore,

so now i started over and the program wont recognize my phone as being connected anymore, any help? plz thanks

...ringtones should be set louder in the phone settings...

the audio driver already made the speaker much louder(almost sounds like it will blow when it is maxed).

that firmware is fine.

This is my second attempt, yesterday it went over 6 hours and hung on Waiting for the phone to reconnect for 2 hours, phone display was on saying it was in file transfer mode.

I then ended Phone XS 2.1 Alpha 3 and fully charged my phone (which only took about 20 min??), I upgraded to Phone XS 2.1 Alpha 6 and ran again. Just got home from work and it is hung on Wait for EaTEbS for the last 5 hours+. My USB drivers are up to date, my cable is in the back of my computer, memory card is out, sim is out.

Any ideas?

ok i am still having trouble so i give up for now my flash themes are still not working but i did notice a little change in camera quality but major changes in the acoustics imo me me that was a big mistake cuz now i got that stupid hissing noise and the sound isnt that great. if the cam and sound changed why didnt the flash themes i dont understand. so here is my question if i do a master reset will i get the original cam and sound driver instead of the ones i uploaded thanks

Did you turn off the power-save function in Device Manager?

Another thing you should try is to uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in the Device manager. Do this on all "hubs" by right-clicking the hub. Click Properties, go over to the Power Management tab, and uncheck it. (-Thanks master.j!)

Sure.

Start. Settings. Control Panel. System. Hardware. Device Manager. Universal Serial Bus Controller. On all devices that it says "Hub" do this:

Right click. Properties, Power Management. Make sure the first box is UNCHECKED!

ok but it looks like mine were never checked so i dont kno why flash themes are not working i tried like 5 attempt to no avail i followed step by step in usb controller i got 10 sections i updated the driver that said usb mass storage device then fallowed the rest of the steps i have no clue if i get my phone unlocked and debranded will i get the flash themes plus if i do a master reset will it remove the drivers that i installed thanks if anyone can help really want the flash themes.

No master reset wont get u back the default stuff...
you need to either flash the firmware back or u need to replace th default files....

Is there any benefit to flashing firmware with File Customization system without Flash File System and then flashing File System only. (Of course choosing phone model and region).

My attempt to flash all last night ran over 6 hours but ended with Wait for EaTEbS again. I recharged and flashed Firmware with model, CDa and Region and it was completed successfully in about 1 hour. I am now flashing File System, so far 45 min and counting.

I have successfully flashed my phone (w810i) .
It was branded by Tmobile(UK) now Its gone

It took me about 1h30 to complete.

You see I live in FRANCE (I got my phone from UK) so I thought when I flash I can use FRENCH as phones language (becase there were not french) but even after flash I cant set my phone language to french , only 4 languages are avilable. (English, ...)

I didnt use any customized packs.
I just downloaded the flash files (your last updated file pack) and selected the Main and FS files you provided.
Then ticked Custom File System and selected My model and CDA Region : W810i_CDA102494_2_EUROPE_2

I saw allowed languages , en , fr , de ... so I thought I can set my phone in French , but no chance there is no french

Anyway my phone is working and now i m trying to update the new audio driver (its running...) hope it wont take much time.
And please tell me is there any way to get French into my phone ?

ok here id the thing my phone is rogers branded i dont have anything against that i got around the with the drm all my shortcuts work properly and the only problem i had was that i want the flash themes i used phonexs and used the fsx option and it worked cam wasnt that better but sound was but i started to get hissing sound and that i didnt have before so the acoustic driver was a bad choice for me and the flash themes never worked . like i said i dont have a problem with the rogers branding i just want to kno how to go back to my original camera and acoustic drivers and also just get the flash themes. please help me listing to music on the phone doesnt sound as good as before. thanks

i think you're SOL. i'm in the same boat. after a couple successful uploads of the supplied files (fsx), i still didn't get the flash menus, and the audio drivers aren't any louder. the only difference is that the sound on my phone is now a bit more tin'y sounding than on my wifes untouched 810. i have a cingular branded phone btw.

at any rate... there's no orig files out there as far as i know, and no way to pull the orig files off of another phone (not sure how the files we've uploaded were obtained). this said, you're just going to have to wait until the software to "hack" our phones is improved to a point where people can upload and download files at will. at that point we should be able to better customize our phones. waiting is not a huge deal for me, my phone still works fine despite the slight decrease in external speaker quality with the new drivers... not sure where you stand on the matter though.

my 2 cents fwiw.

sry bro, the original driver files and so on are stored in the Firmware files (.mbn and .fbn) and since we dont know how to extract from that we're not able to get original driver files. BUT...if you take the time to read through this post i believe someone linked the original cam driver (not 100% sure bout acoustics though)

huh? i've been under the impression based on this: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1080597 that debranding was NOT required to use the flash themes. i haven't read through ALL of the other posts (i've read some... but since they were specifically related to flashing your phone they didn't really apply to me) so wasn't aware of this. so you're saying that despite the instructions and very long thread about fsx'ing the files to your phone where no mention of debranding was made, that you HAVE to have a debranded phone to use the flash menus?

i'm not arguing here... you're the expert. i'm just wanting to make sure i'm clear as to your comment. if this is the case, is surely explains my (and others) problems with not getting the flash menus to work despite successful fsx's.

enigma i think fungied.cheese is right cus i think i makes sense u have a branded cingular phone and so do i have a branded rogers phone there both branded and we both got the fxs successful message and didnt work iso i think if the phones were unbranded flash themes would have worked. cus so did was i under the impression that u didnt need a unbranded phone to use flash themes.

im guessing the guy meant that you dont have to debrand AGAIN to use flash menus..but yes, by rule of thumb, branded phones DO NOT allow you to use flash menus. why? beats me..but yes, you MUST have it unbranded to use flash menus

my flashing experiences differ, sometimes i get amazing results, other times i dont...what im doing right now is trying to find the best drivers and so on for the w810i and putting it into a final package that should last for this month until newer developments occur. sms/wap/mms you can get back from the SE website...they send it right to your phone and you just install it (very easy to do). the FW is R4E right now that IM using, the one in my package is 1 version lower (R3D? i think) but the hiss issue is better in the R3D fw than R4E (so i gotta reflash AGAIN lol), my drivers are the same in the pack...but im thinkin of goin back to qwerty's version 3 drivers. essentially..im sayin, you should wait till bout tomorrow once i get my final pack ready and then flash..it'll consist of the BEST drivers that i could find

it happens sometimes even if your battery is fully charged...you gotta restart the procedure (remove the battery for 2 mins first and then try again)

hi! this is my very first post.

I'd like to thank fungied.cheese and everyone else who contributed for this great "flasher" collection. After reading through several posts (including this one), I used the supplied package on my w810i and everything went smooth and well. It took me 3hours, 26mins and now, I have a better w810i.

Yes, you can still update via SEUS. You will not lose the new themes but you will lose the acoustic drivers (if you uploaded these two) with the original SE drivers.

current is indeed R4E, but i think one version lower is R4D... no? i'm just looking at wotan and it shows R4E as newest and the one before is R4D. is this correct?

the hiss... is that in the external speaker of the phone, or in the earpiece, or in the the headphones when plugged in? if it's just the external phone speaker... i'll not bother downgrading since i don't plan on listening to music through that one. if it's in the earpiece or the headphones though... i might consider a downgrade.

Just read this thread, it is the flashing for dummies thread. I followed it and got it done no problem. (just search through and make sure you have the most current version of both phone xs and cheese's files).

Ok guys, I read alot and I think I get it now.

Just need to know a few things about the main, FS and cust file.

I live in Europe, in Holland. So that means I can either:

- choose to use all of fungied.cheese's files and get an american phone with the same stuff except for the language
- choose my own files and get the same results and get my own language. Will I also be able to install the camera/sound mods without changing anything to the main/FS/cust files?

Is there any way to just take the main/FS files from fungied.cheese and modify something to get my own language? I would want to take as much from his pack as possible so I will be sure I get the best and safest result.

Where would I find main/FS files for europe that will work the same as cheese's files?

What i would do is go to topsony.com, when it comes back up, download the latest firmware (FS and MAIN) for your w700 and then flash with phonexs.

These files also work on the k750 and SHOULD work on the w800 (REMEMBER TO CHANGE THE FIRMWARE AND CUSTPACKS FILES VERY IMPORTANT!!)

The link to the flash files no longer exist. Can you or someone provide me some advice on where i can obtain these files or a specified name? (of course instructions too please =D) Lol....i'm still trying to buy/find a w810i..and i'm planning to flash it already...can flashing unbrand the fone? i'm assuming it does...but some knowledge on this area would be greatly appreciate it.

How do I use other themes as Flash. I Updated with Wotan and I can only use the stock themes as flash menus.

Yup. You can only do flash themes with the theme they came with. I did some modding, though, to one theme and it just looked ugly with the flash menus. Unfortunately, the flash menu has the same background as they original theme. Meaning my orange-Walkman theme now had an ugly, yet Flash-Enabled black orbit menu.

hey fungied cheese can u post some photos of what your custom pack looks like what it adds compared to the defualt america2 w. basically what does it add so everyone ca take a look at your fancy work so they dont have to wait for the whole4 hour process etc. or just pm em to me if u can or a link woudl be nice of the photos or explain what u added what the hooks etc.

i dunno but i tried the second one the new one and it worked and i finally got my phoen fixed after using the old ones 3 times with no luck. ohh yeah second pack includes someones v3 acoustic drivers aka sound drivers and some ones camera driver. after flashign sound on speaker was incrased but dint matter because th phoens speaker cant handle that kinda volume it buzzes etc on high because i guess peakers are too weak/small but it does what he said increased by about 25% volume (im guessing dont know how much higher it really is but made a difference) however i havent tried it yet with the hpm 70 headphones i gto with it and havent checked if it got rid of the hiss which i think it did.

also second one (DOES NOT HAVE CUSTOM PACK) has his custom pack rmeoved as he recommended peopel just download it off themelves etc he posed the link but that site down until it goes back up. he said because it caused allot of confusion and u dont really need it as i dint use it since the new one doesnt have his made custom pack. i actually dont even know what his custom pack did with the hook files.

I think its really not adviceable to flash the themes
The theme Active_desktop.thm contains a stopwatch in the menu..!!
which does not work...!!!
Secondly the walkman word is overlapped by other walkman in the menu

I dont really understand whys tat stop watch there in the themes!!

You can successfully flash a branded phone BUT the new themes will not work.

hmm i knew that my eng is not good, but am ask both of u im flashed my phone with fungied.cheese flash version1 it flashed succesfully wht does mean my phone is branded or unbranded. bcz some one told me if u flashed the .swf file then ur fone is unbranded other wise branded wht is ur opinion about that.

I live in Canada, is there a difference between Canadian and US versions of MAIN and FS?

Also in the files to flash with, I've noticed a lot of repeat files like hooks and camera drivers within different directories. Should this be?

its not there you just have to put one of the themes on like orbit or something and for the other themes to work you need to put the theme files on your phone (the files that end in .thm) and then set the themes on your phone.
