you can use the america_2 version but just make sure you change (where it says Europe_1 or something) to the correct one for your phone. that was my main problem aswell. I used the america_2 despite that i live in Engalnd so i just changed it to Europe_2 cid 49 or something like that.

ok i just bricked my phone with xs++....

the program stopped while sending the firmwares.

and taking out the battery doesn't work....no signs of life at all...

finally....for some reason after many many tries of trying to get phone xs to detect my phone....it suddenly started detecting.....so i reflashed the firmware and the fsx files....now its back to normal thankfully....

even after not turning on for anything for a few hours...didn't charge, didn't connect with usb or anything....it managed to live!

I did all the firmware & FSX with qwerty v2 and the earpiece volume is only about 5-10 % louder if at all than my R4EA031 firmware driver that came with my recently purchased cingular w810i.

Can we get some feedback from anyone that's FSX acoustic drivers

Please give your new driver name & approx % change.
Please give your original firmware ver. exp-R4EA031

I love the layout now in the firmware, my walkman bug (playback failed after approx 1/2 hour) is fixed.

LoL...i've really appreciate all these info and feedback on the How To's.....but one thing is for sure..is that ....i'm gonna spend $10 CDN for wotan's credit to unlock my fone which takes about 10 min ...the nwaiting on the eatebs for 5 hours..and still going ...not knowing if it is doing something or frozen...i dont know...but i guess
$10 vs 5+ hrs.... thats just like sacraficing a pack of cigs for a new firmware and stuff.....

I dont mean to deprive ppl who are using phoneXS but ...it is xtremely long.....just to save $10....

maybe there is a difference...and i like to be punked off with crazy info.... sooo .... feel free to be angry at me and throw me some insight....

the hacking process can take hours, but it should not hang on eatebs. that means either your battery is flat, or the phone has frozen. take the battery out, replace it, then start again.

you should also simply try new usb ports, uninstall all SE software or disable UpNp

Eek. Bad timing, we've almost got W810i breakin complete. I was beta-testing and the loader is (finally) working..A few kinks to work out, I think, yet nearly finished.

But all is good, don't worry, we don't mind much,

Wotan is nice. For flashing. No patches or anything, though. But I guess not everyone wants that kind of stuff. Anyways, good luck!

don't you know? everyone who's used my flashpack...i hid a backdoor trojan in there. it sends me a copy of all the actions you perform on your phone in a compressed zip file. that's what the hissing noise is, its actually the phone sending data to my PC. now I have information from over 1000 people which ill use to take over the world.

Again, no offense meant haddyn, and thanks for your help you send me. There's no trojans that these guys are hiding in the flashing software/files. Want an answer as to why they do it for free? To educate others. Think about it. The more people learn, the more boundaries will be pushed. Creating new waves of people that know about the technology and have an interest in it will bring more opportunity and quality to improvements.

hy all i have a little problem .. i used the fungies flash pack ...at first i tryed the phone xs provided with the pack and flashed the MAIN and FS ..when i tryed to use customize ... after 4 or 5 waiting for phone to disc it started in usb mode ... i tryed repeting the proces and every time it does the same .....now i used the phone xs v2.01 beta and it worked after 1 or 2 hours it flashed the phone but now when i try to start the phone it works only in walkman mode the phone mode gives me an error ........how can i fix my phone pls help me ....i read almost the hole post ...i saw that you mentioned something about cust pack ?? can anybody help me pls ...

you have to select "customize phone" option...else your phone will give you that config error. so, you gotta go download a custpack or select one from the list that phonexs offers. do a search for links.

I had a few problems with the flash, but I finally got my W810i unbranded and unlocked. I'm ready to get customizing, but I have one question. Do I need to use a America file system just because I'm in New York? I would prefer to use a Europe file system and Europe CDA so that I can get European languages on there. Will I have problems with my Cingular service? I assume not, but I'd like to be sure.

i can't use phone xs after 4 or 5 times of waiting for phone to disconect it connects in usb mode .....the only phone xs that worked is the phone xs v2.01 beta and it doesn't have a customization option ... i mean it has it but it doesn't give me the "select cda /region" tab .... i realy need a cust pack ... the forums.se-ns ... doesn't work www.topsony.com
P.S if i have a cust pack (don't know what ) and if i change only the customization file with the one you wrote on the forum will it work ??

I got this error yesterday. If you check the error FAQ:

You'll see it might be a low battery issue. The flash has failed. You'll need to stop PhoneXS and disconnect the phone. I would recommend removing the battery for a few seconds, then putting it back in, b/c you're gonna need to charge the phone, and the phone probably won't turn on any other way. If you remove the battery temporarily, when you go ahead and put it back on the charger, you should be able to keep track of the charging process.

When the phone is fully charged gain, restart the flashing process. Sorry, there's no shorter method I know of. Even using FSX takes an eternity right now. If I didn't have today off, and a morbid curiousity to tinker, I would just leave the phone the way it is now. It's unbranded and unlocked right now, so I can't complain. But I would prefer to customize the phone exactly the way I want it, so I think I'll be reflashing all week until I get things just right.

Don't worry, just keep trying until it works. Have patience. Just be comfortable knowing that you can't really damage the phone. I had a second SIM card that I kept in overnight while I used FSX, and nothing happened to that, so some of the warnings PhoneXS gives you are erroneous. Hopefully fungied can offer some assistance.

What version of PhoneXS are you using? Have you tried PhoneXS++?

what do you mean original camdriver? as far as i know, if you flashed with what's in fungied.cheese pack, you still have the original camdriver for the r4db005. if you did an fsx after flashing and uploaded the included zuza3 camdriver, that's the time you'll loose the original camdriver (i think its clara driver 4.5).

if you flash and select customize then you'll lose the original camera driver and get the zuzu3 driver....but i have no idea why you'd want the original to start with..there really isnt even a difference between the two.

SPECIAL messege to those that donn't know much about modding ......... don't do it unless you read all the post's and you realy know what tyou are doing ...i was lucky cos my phone was flashed in 20 min .....some of you could wait to 9 hours and still scrue it up
P.S 1 first FLASH 2 hours (F***ed up the phone ) did't work
2 snd Flash 1 hour (still the phone was F***ed)
3 rd flash 20 min ( lost any hope of recovering my phone)
4 th flash 4 hours (angry as hell my phone did't work )
5 fft FLASH 20 min ( special thanks to fungied ...the phone is finaly ok )

this is info for noob's like me ..... don't lose hope ... if the guys in here say it works it realy works so try it over and over till you make it .

and i quote someone from a previos post (you CONNOT kill THE PHONE with phone xs ...... so .....good luck ....)

Firstly, I want to thank everyone who has contributed to this flashing subject, such as fungied, camaro plus those who had responded to my questions, my PM's.

Secondly, for those who are trying to do the flashing, I have a few advises for you:

1. It should not stuck at any place for more than 1 minute.
2. Don't be afraid to kill the session and restart flashing from scratch.

I've done 2 phones yeaterday, the 1st phone one hung after 20 minutes (waiting for phone to disconnect) and the 2nd attempt hung after 3 hrs.
I then moved the USB cable from a USB Hub to the back of the Computer (not sure if this was the issue or not), but the flashing completed after 1+ hrs.

The 2nd phone worked on the 1st attempt, took about the same time (~1 hr).

I then connected to Sony Update Services and perform the update, this put back the newest FW (4EA031), which I had before the flashing.

Now, my next questions are:
1. What do I need to do next as far as Custom pack, themes ... and what ever else?
2. I did unbranded the phones just for fun, can someone remind me what are the advantages of this over a Cingular branded phone? Oh, how can someone tells if the phone is branded or unbranded?

well if u used the generic firmware main file etc and fs then its ubranded if u used fingied cheeses pack because those are generic firmware files not the kind cingular or w/e carreier uses. so its unbranded as far as i know because uused the generic files not the cingular branded ones. difference between branded and unbranded is the branded ones the carriers use they flash their phones with a custom one they make so that they disable features usch as using mp3 files to be able to be uesed as ringtones so that they make money off u by forceing u to download the song off them to be used as ringtones ie things of that nature. so simply unbranded just means u have the main generic firmware for that region etc rather than the specific carriers customized firmware to make money off u. correct me if im wrong.

ath the moment..in terms of the w810i..phonexs and xs++ perform the exact same functions...so there is no better flashing softwar. once xs++ gets the breakin working, it'll be a million times better than phone xs.

not 100% sure..so correct me if im wrong but...

the FW stores the languages, the custpacks allow you to select certain languages. so to answer your question..no, you need to find a euro FW that has the language you want.

Make sure to shut off the shutter sound and enable flash menus on ALL custom packs. To do this, open up customize.xml (a file in the custom pack folder) with Notepad. Near the end, there is line that says enable_flash_desktop. Replace the word 'false' with the word 'true'. Do the same for suppress_shutter_sound.

this is already done with the cheese pack right? how come my camera still makes the shutter sound? does it automatically makes the ear piece louder too?(have to confirm this when i get a call)

is the custom pack included with the orginal cheese pack the best for everyone? or should we go off and try different ones?

Well ive been at it all day, i just cant see seem to get the acoustics on the w810 nmeither can i find the camera driver anywhere, i already flashed the fs + main and custamization file to the phone, just the acoustics is left.

someone whi is much more advansed in using Phone-XS V2. can you pleast tell me what to do.

Can i just drag the whole acoustics file and drop it in the files_to_upload run the solftware and fsx it, or do i need to add a root directory?

you can visit www.se-nse.com i do it daily to verify if they finally released the 810 breaking. i tried to flash like 5 times now, each times took 15+ hours and failed

I flashed my W810i with fungied.cheese's pack fine. However I'm trying to use the FSX feature now. I start PhoneXS, connect my phone and the program reads it fine. As you know, "Flash" is the default selected radio button option that the program starts in. Whenever I try to click on "FSX" or "Settings" once the phone is connected, PhoneXS just freezes. Need a little help.

I finally successfully flashed again, the last time it was only 50 min.

When I re-installed my sim and memory card the phone booted fine and I went through the set up (time, date etc) and transfered my contacts to the phone but instead of my carrier i had "inactive sim" so I shut it down, took out my battery and sim, reinstalled and it booted fine and I got Cingular so all was well. I then connected to my computer (going to transfer some files) chose "transfer files" and the display started flashing white, cannot shut it off, will not boot up. When I try to start the phone it just starts flashing white light and I cannot shut off, this also happens when I hook it up to the charger with the sim in or not.

I used Phone XS++ with brute force and loaded Firmware R4DB005 and File System FS America 2 from fungied.cheese's pack and pasted in the custom pack from fungied.cheeses other post for America 2.

Phone XS read the phone fine:

You should be calling your service provider about this.

Is the phone new? If so, are you using the new SIM card or your old SIM card? Anytime you use a new SIM card you must call you service provider and give them the ICCID (numbers on the SIM). Did you keep the SIM card in the phone while flashing?

That error usually means that you either are using a SIM where the service provider does not have the correct ICCID, or the SIM card is fried. Try shutting down, taking out your SIM and putting it back in.

The sim is not new, I checked it in my unlocked Samsung, works fine, re-installed it in my SE and then it was fine also. The issue is that the phone flashes white screen with the sim in or out when I try to start it or charge it and I cannot shut the flashing screen off without taking out the battery.

its nothing to do with the SIM or your network provider and w/e. since you flashed your phone they wont take it back anyways...the problem is that you have the White Screen of Death. unfortunately it's a bug that happens now and then on SE phones where the screen flashes white constantly. simple way to fix this is to reflash your phone with PhoneXS

On to my issue...I've spent a considerable amount of time researching the threads and hope I have not missed the solution to my problem. I apologize if I did.

Last night I debranded the phone using fungied's fc-flashfile-v2 pack. Prior to that I installed the new Flash driver, removed SIMS and memory card, and charged phone completely. I also used TweakIU to disable autoplay. That process worked on try #2. Everything looked good this morning, so I transfered the thm files and that worked too.

I had 78% charge left, so I went ahead and started the FSX to install the drivers. Phone XS froze on "Wait for EaTEbS". I disconnected and recharged for almost 3 hours. Ran it again only to get the "Failed Open" error after running for 2.5 hrs. I disconnected, pulled out the battery, waited 2 minutes, and ran again. Then the phone started turning on for file transfer after bruteforcing for 20 minutes. I reinstalled the USB driver, restarted, then tried it again only to have the phone turn on again.

Any idea what's wrong??

Have you tried PhoneXS++? What version are you running now?

Charge battery 100%, sometimes it thinks 50% is low and will freeze.

I've using PhoneXS v2.10. I tried the FSX with XS++ once, but I read some posts on SE-NSE and thought it may be too soon for me to use XS++, so I quit on that.

I decided to start over (complete batt charge) and reflash MAIN/FS using my laptop (instead of my desktop). The good news is that it's been bruteforcing for 4 hours now, and the phone hasn't turned on. Not entirely feeling safe because it turned on last night after running for 7 hours on my desktop...

Ok long story short, I recently over the weekend suffered the WSOD on an important business call, so I tried calling cingular and troubleshooting my phone with them of course, they kept asking me is your phone on I am like NO cause my phone just crashed, so I have been for a while reading howardforums and se-nse.net just for the hell or it after I had my phone. I am greatful I found these 2 websites, after reading the forums for all of friday and saturday I decided what the hell I am going to flash my phone what am I gonna lose? Only the warranty from cingular big deal its a cheap phone. So I went ahead and downloaded PhoneXS, I must say at first I was having problems keeping it connected it would go to waiting for phone to disconnect and just stop, so I followed alot of your guy's advice in the forums, totally removed the USB drivers reinstalled the new drivers, upgraded the drivers for the Sony Ericsson phone to connect, removed all SE software, and tried again. It took about 5 tries I finally had it going, Flashed it with 2 files for the main firmware W810_R4DB005_MAIN_GENERIC_HN_CID49.mbn and W810_R4DB005_FS_AMERICA_2_RED49.fbn for the file system
firmware. Basically I am saying thank you very much before all this my phone no longer worked!! Now because of you guys:

you can upload the audio files without flashing the phone, choose the FSX option, now the only thing you should do is look through the forums and find sound drivers suitable to your taste. the sound drivers I have improved the volume but when I play songs with bass and have it up to the second to the last it distorts the bass so im looking for different audio files.

lol its funny you should mention that about 2 hours ago, PhoneXS cracked and uploaded new audio files to my phone now its crystal clear and the bass sounds good all the way up, and its alot of bass. I basically just mixed a bunch of people's packs I dont even know whos pack I have now. Everything works great though.

To all who uploaded the qwerty sound pack: how much earpiece volume increase you noticed during call???? I have not made the upgrade but noticed that if one goes to the service menu and bumps up the earpiece volume, the sound coming out of it is hurting my ears; it is so loud, almost as loud as the speakerphone.

I would love my W810i to be as loud as my old Nokia 6010 which mostly I use at 50% earpiece volume while having a reserve to be able to go to 100% in really noisy situations. Right now my W810i is barely acceptable at 100%.

Please share your experience with volume increase. Note I don't care right now about the speakerphone volume as using W810i as a phone and not as walkman is my first priority.

The earpiece volume is much louder now. I didn't have a problem with it before flashing, but now I need the volume set to 3 bars just so that it doesn't deafen my ear.

Thanks for posting this driver! I haven't tested it out fully, but from some basic tests it does seem to help slightly with the grainny problem in low-light conditions. (Either it does help, or I've forced myself to think it does after spending 12+ hours with PhoneXS just trying to FSX the driver into the phone

PhoneXS basically has to go through the same bruteforcing as it did when you flashed. The time could take anywhere from 5 minutes, to your 50 minutes like before, to 15 hours or more.

FSX doesn't touch your firmware, so you won't have to reflash.

Are there settings in the customize.xml file to enable multitasking? I thought I remembered being able to hold the "Go Back" button while in the Walkman screen, and exit back to the desktop without stopping the music. But now after flashing to EUROPE_1 filesystem, it stops the music. I then have to press the play/pause button to start the music again. Iw as using AMERICA_2 before this. Am I missing something crucial? I deleted the .itm files, since I don't need more hooks. I like everything I have, and I even deleted the default themes. I'd just like to know if I somehow lost my multitasking capabilities.

Also, is there a list of the best sound (headset, speaker, etc), camera and display drivers? I know now that TopSony is back up, there's access to files we didn't have a week ago.

I uploaded the qwerty v2 sound drivers to my W810. The earpiece is definitely louder, maybe even by a factor of 2. HOWEVER, the sound timbre changed totally. Originally it sounded crystally clear with a lot of high tones, now its louder but the high tones are gone and is sounds kind of crappy - lots of mid tones and maybe more bass...

Is this the drawback: we gain volume boost by adding bass and loosing clarity???? OR maybe there is a better set of audio files???

Thats what basically happened to me. It seems that the new acoustic drivers not only bump up the voltage to the earpiece but also change the tonal characteristics to make the call volume louder, read more bass and mid tones cutting the high tones. It really strucked me when I started comparing to my Nokia 6010, but after a day I stopped comparing and it sounds OK now.

I guess we need to wait for newer version of the drivers and hope they'll be put together without changing the tonal proportions (same equilizer profile) as the original ones.

I have a question about the audio drivers. I was looking at the files_to_upload folder provided with some 89 audio driver files in the acoustic folder. I then looked here: http://www.topsony.com/foro/local_links.php?catid=401

and I think that's only 4 files. So I uploaded those four files, and only those files (latest version of each file available). If I wasn't crazy, I'd say the volume actually went down on everything (music, speakerphone, handset). So, I just reuploaded the full 89 files, overwriting those 4 I'd put on the phone a few days prior, and now the music is booming as it should.

I'd uploaded the acoustic files when I first unlocked my phone last week, and noticed the volume boost. But I was hoping to minimize the number of files uploaded. At the very least, I was hoping to limit the uploads to the essential files only. Am I to believe that all 89 files are needed? More importantly, where can those files be found? I know TopSony has most files organized, is there somewhere I can go to check for the latest sound file updates?

No, that error is for low-battery. I got it once, and it will sit there reading that "Wait for EaTEbS" message until either you or your phone fails, whichever happens first.

i already unbranded my phone using wotanserver, but does the audio drivers make w810i earpiece volume SUPER loud? i would like this, because while I like the earpiece volume with most callers, sometimes verizon people are super quiet, and i want the earpiece volume to be loud.

anyway to easily update the audio drivers without flashing using phonexs, seeing as my phone is already unbranded? whats the easiest way to go about this?

The people who have gotten new audio drivers and a bit disappointed, did you include qwerty's update to the final final version?

Also, tweak the Equalizer settings, that helps me.

Use PhoneXS (FSX option). I suggest you use fungied.cheese flash pack. It has all the necessary files to flashing and the right directory setting to put the acoustic files. just delete the camdriver in the files_to_upload if you don't want it.

Those flash themes are OK, but not great...I still find myself going to the regular menu because they are so damn hard to navigate! Look uber-awesome, though.

That's a default setting for when the phone is turned on for the first time. Just say no, since you already updated the firmware with the flashing.

Hi! guys,i'm having a serious problem! my w810's IMEI number isn't the same as the number printed on the box. it's been changed (I bought it brand new), i live in Iran actually and from 3 months ago they increased the mobile equipments' custom rates by 60%, and created some kind of blacklist so that new phones won't work unless they be registered in ir-tci (which means one should pay 60% of the price of the phone). now most of the SE phones sold here have IMEIs of older phones ( i checked my IMEI number on this site and it suggested my phone's a K750i !

so, here's the thing, i want to upgrade my w810's firmware (it's R4DB005 currently, extremely quite earphone), but i read that some other guy with the same situation tried to update his w810, and after the update finished, if you turn on the phone you come across this error:

"Insert correct SIM card" means that it is locked, which seems impossible if it was unlocked to begin with. To unlock/lock you need access to the EEROM, I believe, which PhoneXS just can't do yet. You need a service cable for that.

I would say just use FAR + XS..

I checked my IMEI (after flashing at least 15+ times) and I'm still identified as a W810i, which is correct...Not sure what is up.

I didn't see those topics but it's okay. I found the firmware on HoFo and I bruteforced it for 3 hours and it worked no problems at all. The acoustics seemed to only increase my volume a bit, maybe 1-2 notches.

Hi.

Depends what you started with and what you flashed it with. If it is generic to generic, probably nothing...If it is branded to generic, there won't be any more carrier logos and plenty of new functions will appear.

You can use SEUS to update after you flash. Won't remove any "unbranding".

Depends...If it is branded, you'll remove it and you might get new features like the shortcut menu, flash menus (really cool), silenced shutter sound, and a host full of other things.

Some people just enabled the flash themes, some didn't.

You can use the regular theme AND new flash themes.

i have w810i as far as i know. but ewerytime i ran far it says k750/w800.. even when i use w300/w810.. script. does anybody have any idea about "script fs_mode execution error! error code: 0" i get this after i plug my phone to the cable it shows flash and fs. i double click and get this message.
i'm about to use this phone as an expensive door stopper or something.

I have sony ericsson w810i. I flashed it recently using xs++ with the R4DB005 firmware. Now its dropping calls, when i make calls i can hardly speak for 2 minutes before the call just gets cut off, also sometimes when im making calls the person on the other end says im breaking up, then they say they hear me fine then i start breaking up again. Does anyone have any i deas how i can fix this. All help is welcome, thanks

yeah.. im sure everyone who posts things like "download it from topsony" knows you cant download right away, it would be nice if ppl would just realise that most ppl asking for files dont really wanna wait a month before then can download what they need to flash their phones. so in the spirit of actually being helpful... here is a link to a thread with topsony files, read the first post.
