[8525] HTC USB Modem not showing up?

I plug in the 8525 and ActiveSync works, but no matter what I do, the USB Modem will not show in device manager.

Does this require the cable that comes with it? Or can I use any A-B USB cable?

Follow this thread it should help it's for the TyTn (same as 8525)

Quick answer to this is you have to go into "Connection Settings" within Active Sync and turn off "Allow USB" setting. Active Sync is taking over the interface and won't let the computer read the 8525 as a modem. As soon as this goes off you will likely have to go through the Driver Installation process.
