SLVR prob with message attachments?

Hi all.. does anyone have an idea what's going on here? I've got an L7 and am with Virgin PAYG. I recently had a friend try to send me a phone number from his phone and when the message arrives and i open it all there is is a question mark icon sorta thing.. a q-mark in a box. Which i guess means it doesnt understand the attachment content? I hadn't set the phone up for GPRS or WAP at that time so did those things but still with the q-mark. If it means anything he's in AUS and im in the UK... idea's?
