Is there any way I can get this replaced. I still have warrenty but thats obviously not going to be covered. If I use the insurance option, I get a Razr which I really dont want. I would like to keep the Slider but since they dont make them anymore, im screwed. The crack in the screen really bothers me though.

O and another thing, will this crack void my warrenty if another problem arises with the phone that is the manufactures fault?

Probably. You probably don't want to do that though because it'll cost about $85 ($55 part, half hour of labor @$60/hr)

Who told you they'll send you a RAZR?

Any damage to the handset voids the warranty and any future problems will not be covered under warranty.

Well this phone is pretty much brand new (had a problem with the speaker phone so Alltel sent me a new one a few weeks ago) and the deductable is 95 bucks to get a new one so if its around 80 bucks, then its still not a bad deal.

The Alltel rep told me they send Razrs to slider users since they dont make new ones anymore and thats the only phone they have comparable to it. 2 people in my family have the new razrs and alot of my friends and I would rather stick with the slider. It will only be till like March till I am eligable to get a new one. Gotta love 1 year contracts...haha

We normally charge around $100 including the return shipping so unless you can get it done locally, the insurance option is smart.

Just make sure that the phone is new (you make see issues with refurbs later on). Also, make sure you add in the cost of transfering images/phone contacts and the cost of replacing any games or ringtones.

It may be cheaper to repair the phone in the long run.

Yeah, if I would be getting another Slider, I would be all about the insurance but they are giving me a razr that I dont want. The insurance isnt bad to have anyways. 7 bucks a month. Only thing is I dont have it now so I would have to put it on and then wait 30 days to use it.

I have everything thats on my phone, including contacts, on my computer so they wouldnt have to transfer anything. I just want my slider back....lol

I think the 100 bucks is where Im looking at. Since your in the business, could you email me some info about fixing it and that kind of thing to buckguin@mail.com . I dont think anybody around here does it locally that Ive heard of but Im going to take a trip to the Alltel store sometime this week to see what they say.

So it looks like Black Cat is my answer. So my next question is, if i get my phone fixed from an outside source, is my warrent still good since they didnt know my phone was broke.

As per SimpleKindaMan's post

Any damage to the handset voids the warranty and any future problems will not be covered under warranty.

Off the top of my head, I do not believe there are any tamper resistant stickers on this handset, so if the repair is done clean (no fingerprints, etc) and right, it would be hard for the manufacturer to know that a repair was even done.

Bottom line - I know our repair quality and have no doubt that we could repair a broken phone and get it replaced under warranty later, BUT we do not advise doing that and you would assume all risk in trying.

The point of the repair is to get your phone fully usable without having to resort to a carrier refurb and dealing with replacing images, contacts, and downloaded games or ringtones.

This is a refurb as it is. I have no intentions of using the warrenty now. Its just this phone has a tendency of speakerphone issues and what have you that they replace. I only have a 1 year contract so as long as I have the phone, it will be covered. This was just for future reference..
