I want a phone that everyone doesn't have!! Suggestions?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I live in a fairly small town, but I'm allready seeing people everywhere with SYNC's and even a couple with Blackjacks . Treo 650's are allmost as plentiful as RAZR's . Right now I'm carrying my A780, and I'm pretty sure I won't see another around here, and it does just about everything, but it's alittle on the thick side. It doesn't have to be smartphone or Cingular phone. My Blackjack isn't going anywhere(I love it) but I'll probably sell/eBay the others, at least a couple of them.

Requirements:

Small or at least thin.
GSM 850 (Good RF)
preferrably flip, but open to other styles
POP3 Email capable

Considering:

Nokia 6270
Nokia N80 :coolYeah, it's really too fancy, but still cool)
Moto KRZR (Silver not Blue, since cingular is releasing the Blue)
Moto RIZR

Open to suggestions(Especially users) of others and opinions on ones listed. It doesn't have to be the latest and greatest. Just dependable and DIFFERENT!!!

Thanks in advance, and Happy New Year!!!

I'm delighted with my K1 so far, but if exclusivity is your aim you mightn't be satisfied after Cingular has been selling them for a few months.

Is the earpiece volume on the K1 any better(Louder) than the Razr ?

The last Razr I had was a late production internatonal V3i, and it had very good volume to start with.

I'm not sure how to answer the question.

The answer is no, for me, but the volume of the K1 is more than adequatae.

Do you have the Blue or the Silver?

Rizr z3

Get out of the Nokia, and especially Motorola brainwashing... try a Sony Ericsson. Dependable you say? Try a w810i to be exact. And you wanted to be different... get a white one.

you should get a bag phone. i guarantee you'll be the only person walking around with one.

What about the SE z710

Posted by: ceno

I tried the "Dare to be different" approach with cellphones and got a LG KG320.
Shortly thereafter I opted for dare to be satisfied instead and got a V365.

Choose carefully.

how about one of these bad boys

LOL, I think mine is older, from looking at the keypad. Damn, phones have come a long way haven't they!!!

You won't like the 6270. Thick and does not feel well made.

Also, when you do find something, PM me, I might be interested in your A780.

RIZR Z3......

Posted by: CoRupT

Chrome Motorola Pebl ^ Dj Just happens to have one for sale Chrome is the way to go!

I never seen anyone with a RIZR yet but Also a Motorola Maxx seems like a unpopular phone in the States for now

Why not try some Samsungs - x820, 707sc, d900?
Or some vodafone/softbank phones like Toshiba or Sharp

Posted by: ivwshane

Based on the OP's original list, without a doubt the most original and cool phone is definitely the n80!! It blows all the other "cool" phones away!

If you want something that cingular carries then what about the bb pearl?
The w810i is another good option.

I wouldn't be surprised if we do see just that. They are allready making the old Motorola "Brick" phones with GSM internals(unfortunately no 850 version). A retro "Quad Band" StarTac would be SWEET!!!

Just a cross-carrier BASHMENT!

I have a CDMA M610 from Samsung. This is a phone that not everyone has. Hardly anyone, even the stores........LOL Great phone tho. It's thin, so if you are in the CDMA area, check one out at the store..OoPS, STORES DON'T HAVE THEM!

The most common type of phone that everyone else doesn't have is one that doesn't work very well; JMO, but most products which are well made work well, etc, will be rewarded with higher sales. Again, OMO, but usually products made in higher volumn have more of the quirks worked out of them--The first out of anything new, is usually where the problems are. sort of the beta version.

Edit

I must be strange, but before I consider buying a different phone, I will check either with howard reviews or phonescoop. In addition, accessories for more popular phones are easily and cheaply available. I am amazed that aftermaket batteries & accessories for moto phones for virtually free; I know oem may be of better quality, but I can buy 10 cheap chargers for one of the oems', and other than they occassionly fail, they are a bargain; as are phones which about 6 months or so after their introduction date, and I haven't seen much improvement in years, except in the smartphone class.

I would get either the krzr, rizr, or n80 off the list of suggestions.
