Removing auto-text?

First, I did search and didn't find anything regarding auto-text and I also searched through some of the threads in the first few pages but didn't see anything related to the topic.

Anyways, this is my first Blackberry phone and I'm trying to figure out why everytime I enter text, the auto-text comes into play. I did the "Disable Auto-text" option but it didn't seem to have made a difference. Also I noticed that when I push say the O/P key, the P comes up first instead of an O. I looked through the Manual for anything to change but there isn't anything else that has made a difference.

So is this something I just have to adjust to or is there anyway I can change this, because it takes way too long to type in just two words because it'll pop-up a suggestion for every letter.

I think you're mistaking SureType for AutoText. SureType predicts what you're trying to type which is why P comes up when you press the O/P key (you didn't really specify your model). AutoText will autocomplete certain entries. If AutoText is turned off and you type "mypin" and a space it should replace "mypin" with your PIN. If it doesn't then AutoText actually is off (as an example).

Oh duh, sorry I have a Pearl. I didn't know there was anything called SureType on the phone, it wasn't mentioned in the manual as far as I know. Weird. But yeah, that's what I'm refering to and it is really annoying since I'm used to texting with the other keypad layout (I don't know the terms if there is one).

Also what is this Wordlist thing, I apparently I have a few entries in there but I don't know how I do. Is it used in conjunction with Auto-Text?

Look at the bottom of page 11 of the manual. It tells you how to change to multi-tap.
