ok, so I have just successfully flashed my phone using phoneXS, and as promised, said I'd write and "in-depth" guide on how to flash your phone for those of us that are less computer-literate. In any case, I have to give all of my thanks to ikjadoon, fungied.cheese, and Lemming from the se-nse forums, Zuzu3 for his cam driver along with assorted others that helped in the process. In any case.. let's get this tut started!

1.) CHARGE YOUR PHONE!!! Even with a full battery, there are "chances" that your battery may die before it finishes flashing due to longer bruteforcing times (bruteforcing = trying to crack passwords by trying extreme amounts of combinations, or sometimes a set dictionary, in just a few seconds. This can be quick if the password is one of the first words selected, or longer if it's a tougher password to crack).

Also take out your SIMS card AND any your memory card as well!

2.) This MAY NOT be a needed step, but in my case it surely was. Before starting anything, go to "add or remove programs" in your control panel and delete "SE PC Suite" (it MAY only need to be exited, as I've always kept mine active. Any feedback on this would be nice). You can really uninstall this any manner if you want, just get rid of it (and disc2phone just to be on the safer side, they only take what.. 5 minutes to put back on?). The reason to do this is because after trying to flash two times, it got interrupted once far along because once you go so far in flashing, your computer will soon recognize your phone and will hook up to it using PC suite, and both times it canceled the flashing operation.

3.) It's time to get the two most important files, your MAIN and your FS. If you have an American-based w810i, fungied.cheese has already made this a WOORLD easier by making his own pack of files with "almost" everything you need. You can download it HERE . No subscriptions needed, just follow the fine print and download it. Even if you DON'T have an American-based w810, then download it anyways. Take this compressed file that he supplied us with, and extract everything into w/e fold you want "IE.. my documents/**your folder name here**" I used "my documents/phone flashing". ***fungied.cheese's pack includes the best acoustic drivers to date, which cancel the hiss and make the volume much louder than the weak power it gave before. He has also included Zuzu3's supercam driver which...does just that, makes the camera have better quality. It's proven better, though the difference is minor. It also allows you to take silent pictures when in silentmode, so you don't have to worry about the shuttersound. If you don't want the cam drivers, then simply go into the "files_to_upload" folder in the directory you extracted fungied.cheese's pack, then the ifs folder, then delete the "camera" folder. ***

If you ARE NOT using a w810 (ONLY DO THIS IF YOU'RE NOT USING THE FILES SUPPLIED IN FUNGIED.CHEESE'S PACK!!!) or are using a more complicated region, such as HK, then go HERE , and select your phone you're flashing. Then it should have a couple of extra options here, just stick w/ whatever category has the most "Entradas" and you should be safe. Then you should see a FS and a MAIN category. Select MAIN first and choose which one fits your description, such as your location. Then save this file to somewhere you might remember, such as the folder you saved fungied.cheese's pack into, but if you're using differing FS and MAIN files than what he's using, make sure to delete those files, THEN add the files you're downloading from the link provided first, so you don't use the wrong FS and MAIN files.

Then after downloading the MAIN file from the link, go back to the FS category and download one that matches the MAIN file you used. Remember what number you're using as well, as you'll need it later (such as Europe having 5 numbers). Save this in the same directory you saved the MAIN file, along w/ all your other helpful phone flashing files/folders.

4.) Download THIS . What this is is the USB driver set. This is the only thing that fungied.cheese hasn't supplied us with, and in many cases, you won't even need this. But to be on the safe side.. take it. Extract these straight into "My documents". This will make it MUCH easier. More details on installing the drivers below.

5.) Now look for the file in there that's called Phone-XS V2. Open that program up and you should get a simple screen with a few options. First you want to make sure that "USB" is selected. Then click "Start" and the log that shows up should tell you take battery out.. hold C.. blah blah. Just make sure your phone is turned off, you took your SIMS card out, and you took your memory card out as well. Then before connecting your phone to your computer via the USB cable, hold the "C" button ON YOUR PHONE! (not keyboard) and connect it to the USB, still holding the C button. Now to install the USB drivers, right-click "My Computer" and click the "hardware" tab, followed by the "device manager" button. Down the list a bit, there should be an option that says "Other Devices" and it will say something like "unknown device" or "USB device". Whatever it is, if you don't have the USB driver.. it's unrecognized. I'm not POSITIVE what it says because I've gone through with it already, but in any case, rightclick it and click "Install (or update) Drivers". A window will come up asking if you want to install the driver automatically or manual (find the folder yourself). Check the second option (manually) and whenever it click the "Find directory manually" option, and where it has the "Browse" box.. simply tell it to browse under your "My Documents" folder. It should start and finish installing the drivers, and you're done w/ the hardest part of the tutorial.

6.) Now you will most likely have to exit out of Phone-XS, and re-run it again. This time through, do the whole same process above, except instead, as soon as you connect it (Make sure it's still off and you're holding down the "C" button while hooking it up), it should show up abuncha different actions on the log. Once finished, you'll know it's done. It only takes about 5 seconds or so..

7.) The next screen look alot tougher, but it REALLY ISN'T. At the top in the "Select Firmware" Box, check both the "Flash Main Firmware" and "Flash File Firmware" boxes, and for the top box, browse for the folder that you put all of your phone flashing files (such as Phone-XS) and select the MAIN file.. which should have the word "main" in it. In fungied.cheese's case, it's "W810_R4DB005_MAIN_GENERIC_HN_CID49.mbn". Now for the box under that, do the same thing, except instead of selecting the MAIN file, select the FS file, which in again, if you are using fungied-cheese's pack, then it'll be called "W810_R4DB005_FS_AMERICA_2_RED49.fbn". Then move down to the section below that in the "Select Customization" box. There will be two sub-boxes to focus on.. the "Select Phone Model" and "Select CDA and Region" box. For the first one, just pick whatever phone you're flashing.. as simple as that! For the second one, this one's a bit tougher. Just select whatever region you're flashing from (if you're using fungied.cheese's pack, then select the FIRST America, one, labeled "AMERICA_2 (CDA102494/76)"). If you're NOT using fungied.cheese's supplied MAIN/FS files, then do you remember that number that I told you to remember earlier when downloading the FS file? This is where you can look for it. No worries if it doesn't show up, because most (and maybe all) work together, as long as you have the locations correct. I just say make sure for the sake of saving you some time if it DOESN'T work. Better safe than sorry...

8.) Now just click the FLASH button and FINALLY (HOPEFULLY) you should be done w/ EVERYTHING! Now you just gotta give it alotta time and hope for no interuptions, because this can take a LOONG time. If you have any problems, revert to THIS . This has any FAQs regarding the flashing process, such as what the different actions in the log mean.

One MAJOR thing to note which messed me up one time. At any certain time, you WILL ... and I Mean WILL get stuck at a command saying "Wait for EaTEbS"... and the link I posted just above says that that's a battery fault, or a fault with selecting wrong options. DO NOT cancel the flashing because it's been on that ONE option for 5-10 hours. It's NEEDED. That means that you're almost done flashing, actually. Take a look at the "Phone-XS LOG" notepad file that is in fungied.cheese's pack. It shows a list of the commands and the times of all that's gone down. Look at the very end how it jumps form 2 o clock to 11 o clock with just that ONE action. You shouldn't have to worry about this unless you are running low on battery, which.. a full charge should have solved. Unless flashing goes on to the next 2 days, don't stop because of this!

ALSO note that davinciteam and wotanserver are a bit "safer" flashes if you will.. however they cost money and do the same thing, minus other fixes such as camera quality and increasing the volume. PhoneXS is also free, and if you mess up or get interrupted midway.. then you can just simply flash again using phoneXS, I can't say it's COMPLETELY safe, but as far as I've done my searching, no one's had a phone die from it, and I doubt it's possible.. COULD be wrong though, I'm not held liable for any damages

Read through it, nice job on the descriptions. Just as a note, if you're using my files it contains the camera driver files from Zuzu3. If you don't want it just delete it.

On another note, I'm just wondering how you got a hold of my log files lol? Cause I dont remember uploading them haha. But its all good.

A question about EaTbS. So when it is there, it is NOT stuck? It is actually working on the brute force? I've been trying to download the file, but there hasn't been any download slots open for a while. Can I get the EaTbS part of the log from you? Just copy & paste it here, that section to the end.

I can't even find that section of the log, but to my knowledge it doesnt seem right. I had the Eatbs error once and it wasn't brute forcing at all. The program was just stuck because every few minutes of brute forcing the program would try another code and if it was successful then you wouldn't have to wait for the EatBS part. I solved that problem my pullin out my phone and recharging.

that's what the log had said form what i've read, though when I just flashed it, though it's not ALWAYS the final thing. It was 2 times for me though. This last time it flashed in about 3 hours and I had no problem with anything taking longer than 10 minutes.

It can very well be that it means you have no battery or one of the options you've selected doesn't correspond, but then again, I've had it stay on that one action for a couple of hours and get over it eventually. Just takes patience. I'd say if it takes more than 15 hours on this one command though, then I'd retry it. I don't have my personal command prompts, but it took 3 hours for me one of the times.

i was going to turn my z710i to a w710i using wotan (didnt know the other one you mentioned), but for the time being, i cant, cause i dont have an international credit card, and because of that, i cant buy a paypal account...so i cant pay for wotan :P

you say i can do it with this software ?

im from south america, Argentina, and my phone is Branded (CTI), i wanted to get rid of that too XD (not unlock it, just unbrand it), but i think that flashing it to a W710 would do that too, i think :P

what i dont really know now if i can do it with phoneXS just using the right MAIN and FS, and if i can, i dont know if there is a correct one for me in your links (i see some mentioning AMERICA, or nam [north america?], or generic, or orange, no clue if one of those is usefull, or if i can do what i want either :P )

ehh, different programming, same results. However, PhoneXS is a bit less... user friendly. However you can do much more because it's meant for YOU to do the modding

EDIT: Just because you live in the US doesn't mean you NEED the US one. But if you're from HK and have nothing to do w/ America.. it's a bit better that you get HK. Only a few minor differences in the few such as languages, or if you ever other fw, it should match whatever driver is set with your phone, ie HK.

And as far as I'm concerned, PhoneXS would work just fine for you as long as you get the correct MAIN and FS files. I've never flashed one phone brand to drivers dealing w/ a completely different phone though..

yes you can. just download the w710i firmware files (MAIN and FS) and get the w710i cust pack files and you're good to go.

there is a thread here where a member of the forums used wotan to "turn" his z710 to a w710 (fitness aps wont work cause no hard suort for them tho :P), with that i would get flashlite suport and a better music player.

if i manage to get the correct main and fs for my phone (im form south america, we speak spanish here, i dont know if that matters :P), i would be able to do this, right ? since wotan cant customice (i think) that matte was not discused in the other thread (where no one answers right now :P), can i finilize my phone without customising it ?

1.) yes
2.) yes.. though these are both a bit more "opinionated" more than anything. The hiss issue is DEFINATELY fixed, and the camera quality HAS gotten better when you look at it on paper. But it's hard to compare the quality, unless you have one flashed phone and another phone that's not flashed. Not a noticeable difference because it's already a damn nice camera, but hey, all the small things help

no its not the latest firmware, its one version down. the latest firmware actually has worse hissing noise than the newest one.

you cant use these drivers on any other phone other than: w810i/w800/k750

So I have tried downloading the driver zip file and each time it says it is not a valid archive. I imagine this is why i am having a problem getting the Phone XS program to connect with my phone. I had the same problem with the WOTAN server driver, at first then it worked... any ideas, or can someone send me the drivers? I have already debranded my phone using Wotan and just want to load files to the phone to use the flash themes. Am I correct in trying to use the PHONE XS program to do this, without flashing the phone completely? Also, what is the benefit of flashing, as opposed to just debranding. I am currently using flash type themes, such as "Equalizer, Orbit, etc" from Sony, so I know the debranding has worked!

the firmware are all the same. i think you mean custom packs....you can just use the america_2 custpack which is included in the rar file

sigh...you guys REALLY need to read over everything before you start flashing. now you gotta go back and start all over. why? because you guys forgot to select the "finalize" procedure....basically you have a phone with no custpack. so you gotta flash the phone again..

if you're having any problems midway through the flash, then everything is MOST LIKELY ok. If it just freezes for a few hours on one action prompt, then simply reflash it. You're given an unlimited amount of free flashes, so take that to your advantage. Sometimes it just can't bruteforce one of the passcodes that comes up, and sometimes glitches WILL happen. You just have to retry it. It took me about 3-4 attempts to get it right, each of which I did the same thing every time.

As for downloading those files, first you hate to register.. you may just have to cope w/ a different language. Then you gotta go to your email client (not hotmail) and you'll have to click the link supplied to you by w/e the site's email address may be. Then your account will be activated and you can download. To make things easier... just stick w/ fungied.cheese's filepack.. it makes things MUCH easier.

Great post! I hacked my way through this from the SE forums a while ago and finally got it all worked out. Now I'm kinda searching for more goodies and better tweaks. Hopefully as more and more people start using this we can get more data on what the good drivers are.

I have registered and now try to download and it says that all download slots are full. Wanting me to go premium. Also, any ideas about my previous thread, the USB driver link for download doesn't work.

hmm, ya, just yesterday topsony started being gay with their downloading policy, so that's a bit of bad luck. We'll probably have to find another place to get them, but if flashing your phone to American is ok with you, then just use the files that are in fungied.cheese's pack.

As far as the USB driver goes http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?...pe=post&id=3237
this link should get you the drivers. You may have to enable popups or use ActiveX or w/e though, because it's not a page w/ a "download" button, rather it will automatically start downloading there.

yes i did reflash for the 5 times now, but my phone turn on after 15-20 mins . i dont get it and how do you "finalize" after flash?

did you take off disc2phone software and pc suite? Those are the only software issues I had w/ detecting the phone, then turning it on shortly after flashing. W/e the issue is, it has something to do w/ your computer recognizing your phone midway-through, then once it recognizes it's there due to information being uploaded to your phone through the flash, it will turn your phone on and interrupt the flashing. Just try deleting any kind of software that you have that would recognize your phone.

w/b pc suite? Or do you have any software that might recognize adn open up windows automatically when you insert flash drives or any other memory devices? Like, maybe you have a flashdrive and you downloaded firmware for it? Or some major companies liek Adobe have software that will open it up immediately as a "file viewer" and they read you phone as a memory device, so it opens up for it. If you can find this software, then try uninstalling it. Also, do you have your memory card in your phone? It may be reading that.

As far as finalizing goes, all you have to do is what for PhoneXS to say you're done, then unhook your phone, turn it on.. then VUALA!! You're DONE! No finalizing needed.

I've got a problem. I was half way through the flashing process when my computer unexpectedly overheated and shutdown. Now when I connect my phone an run phone xs, the log file says Port Status:Active and im not able to flash again. What do I have to do to flash my phone again?

hmm, if you're flashing it to a european phone, your best bet is to stick w/ the multipack that fungied.cheese has provided. It's american-based, but should work perfectly for your phone. As far as the progress bar is concerned.. that thing's retarded. Don't look at THAT and assume. If that thing meant anything, everyone would've been finished flashing in about 5 minutes.

The phone is currently set to America1 and I cant get any network coverage with that.

Two questions: What's an average length of time for the flash to finish? I understand it's a lot longer than Wotan or Davinci, but .. how long?

And 2) When PhoneXS is trying passcodes, if it's restarted for whatever reason, will it pick up where it left off? Or does it start bruteforcing from the beginning?

Two answers: It's hard to tell you an average time. For instance I flashed mine in less than 35 minutes, however, it takes some people over 5 hours to flash theirs.

And 2) If it's restarted during the flash process you might have a very expensive paperweight. (No it doesn't re-start where it left off, it starts all over again.)

@ sparking: ..hmm, where do you live?

@Z30D: do you mean you get configuration error after you try starting up your phone?

@Kolero: it's really random due to it bruteforcing. It seems the AVERAGE when they DO finish is about 3-6 hours. I've been hearing many "3 hours" lately, though sometimes it does take longer. One time took me 9 hours, another was 4, then another was 3. It's somewhat random, but if you have an alternate phone or a good day to sleep in, do it overnight nice and early to make sure. BUT it seems that if it done'st work the first time, the second time finishes in a short amount of time.

Also, it doesn't save progress, so if you get interrupted, you're screwed.

EDIT: damn you haagen-tux for beating me to it >.<. you were just a few minutes up on me.

I kept getting the same problem. At least it still powers on which is a good thing. I found that with mine (Windows XP Media Center Edition) Windows will try to interrupt the flash procedure to read what's on the phone. Try disabling auto play or try connecting the phone while holding the "C" button, then make sure Phone XS starts reading your phone. Go to start run cmd and type taskkill /f /im "explorer.exe" with the quotes then try. Thats what I did and it hacked in about 35 minutes. After it finishes type explorer hit enter. Good Luck.

He gets it after the flashing is finished, when he turns the phone back on. when you finish flashing take the battery out and wait 2 minutes, put the battery back in and then try.

Ok, seems like a lot of people are having this configuration problem. This is due to the fact that you flashed it with one regions firmware but customized it with another. This will NOT work on the phone. So what you have to do is find the firmware that's for your region and then find the corresponding cust pack on se-nse or w/e site you prefer. My back has the America 2 firmware and the America 2 custpack. You can't mix and match it unless you decide to change BOTH the firmware and custpack (can't do one or the other). So for example, if you want HK firmware then you NEED to get the HK custpack.

sorry to hear abotu your luck sparkin. My only guess was that your two MAIN/FS files weren't coordinated w/ one another or you were just having bad luck w/ PhoneXS and would have to throw a few more times at it. But I hope davinciteam helps you a bit more :x They seem pretty straightforward.

One more question for you guys. I am in the US, my phone is new with latest FW R4EA031, if I use the package from fungied.cheese (I think it has FW R4DB005) to flash, will it downgrade my FW? Should I care even if my FW is downgraded to an older version? Is there a way to upgrade FW back to the current version?

I am going out on a limb but I think you have to visit the sonyericsson site to download the files from your provider to your mobile phone( kind of like what it says on your phone!). It's quite easy and I did for my phone when I first got it...

that's good.. that means it's bruteforcing. It does that for a few hours... and a few more.. and jsut depending on your luck really... it'll finish soon enough. That means it's working basically. As long as their is a continuous flow of actions in the log, then you're ok, even if it does repeat itself OVER and OVER!

I am trying to flash my phone, and every time I start the process (about 35 minutes into the flash) there is a failed open error message that pops up and my phone turns on and goes into file transfer mode. Someone please help me! I have already tried taskkill /f /im "explorer.exe" thing from a previous post, but I still get the failed open error.

uninstall everything that came with your phone (pcsuite and disc2phone) go to your explorer settings and DISABLE auto play. then try it. what is happening is windows explorer is interrupting the program when it tries to re-connect so it can autoplay and fin out what is on the phone to play it. when you did the taskkill did your start menu go away? and make sure no other windows are open if you use that approach. if you still have a window open explorer is still running. when you run that command you should get an output something like .....terminated successfully... or Process with id XXXX terminated successfully... message differs from operating system to operating system. you have to find a way to disable the auto play and you should be fine.

(I am sure I wrote that wrong, going from memory) at 11 last night, checked it out at 11 this morning and no progress.. trying again on my laptop to avoid and problems, it's new. I also went and downloaded TweakUI powertoy from MS to disable "autoplay". Hope that helps!

Hi guys, I'm new to this w810 thing becasue I just got the phone 2 days ago but have been reading through a lot of forums to see which is best and I've decided to use the guide that Camaro has made on this forum. I'm just about to flash my phone but I have a few questions to ask:

1) I just got the lastest (today's 13:46 (time) custpack) and was wondering how to use them? I have yet to flash yet ever and was just curious as to whether or not there are flash themes included in the FW itself. How do I go about "manually uploading" the thm files in your package?

2) Is there any way to back up my provider Roger's dumb, retarded, messed, stupid, handicapped files so that if something ever goes wrong with the phone I can return the phone to Rogers with the original software? I think I saw what I'm looking for but it was a link to a file on TopSony whcih has been down for a while. Does debranding void the warranty with SE (primary reason I want to extract Rogers files)? Will this do?

3) In Flash XS, in the "Flash" menu, the firmwares are straight forward enough but for customization, there is an option under phone model for "own custpack", should I be using that as fungied.cheese's package has a own_custpack folder.

I'm assuming I need to do the FXS thing after I've done the firmwares and custpack selection flash? but that's a whole nother flash! 5) Canada is the America1 firmware I believe, I'm leaning to use that with cheese's package but I hear about AMR being enabled by default (what IS amr exactly?). Can I turn AMR off or should I leave it on? Also, If I decided against Canada, can I use Hong Kong's FW's (once again, this is all with cheese's package) or maybe Japan's? (I'm looking for chinese and japanese fonts to be enabled as I get boxes with the walkman right now). IF it's such a hassle to do all that, I'll stick with cheese's AMERICA2 FW.

6) Can the W810 play m4p files (AAC protected, like off the iTunes music store), I know it can play unprotected AAC files (tried) but my m4p's aren't showing up.

7) Are the camera files bonus and nothing will happen if I delete the camera folder in ifs and the camera folder in ifs\system? Is it just this driver that allows for silent cam or does Sony's too as long as you have "shutterdepress" is silent set to true?

7) Why are all SE haX0rs on this site so nice and helpful? I mean free phone xs, free guides, free support, THANKS. As a sidenote, I LOVE reading how everyone's w810's are getting errors and having their batt's fail on them but I have yet to read about a BRICKED w810 as a result of PhoneXS, everyone seems to be either still trying, stuck with original FW or have working flashed w810's.

1.) http://www.filefactory.com/file/b99e49/ use everything there. It contains everything you'll need, except for the USB drivers. It's recent too, recent as in.. updated today.

2.) a.) It deletes everything Rogers puts on the phone, all the files and all. It will only say "Rogers" at the top, because that's the info given by your sims card. That's it. As far as being able to get the files back that they pack their phones with, to my understanding, that's impossible. You see, it's possible to flash, yet it's EXTREMELY tedious and EXTREMELY hard to do the opposite (ie use the exact "brand of software" that Rogers uses, and the same applies for Cingular). The only thing we can brand it to is its original self, which is the same as what a normal SE phone would be.
b.) to my understanding.. it DOES void the warranty.. HOWEVER, there are tricky ways to get around this

I doubt they'd snoop around to see if there are any signs of flashing (i'm not sure if it's even possible to tell unless you add other files (ie themes and drivers)), thought they MIGHT be a bit suspicious if your phone itself says "Rogers" on it and it's flashed w/o the Roger's supplied "software". You COULD.. wait for the "White screen of death (WSOD) to strike, then give it to them like that. They'll see that it has the wsod and will fix that, and whatever problem you say. On another note, they may not care that you flashed your phone to avoid Rogers' limits.. however you're still modding their merchandise, which they won't like very much. We're not talking about Motorola here xD.

3.) The tut says "in your case" to select "w810" and then "the first America_2" for the custpack.. so it's best advised that you stick w/ doing that.

4.) PhoneXS will automatically detect your "files_to_upload" and "custpack" folders, so you dont' have to worry about inserting them anywhere or anything fun like that. Just maek sure you don't have multiple folders that are named the same thing though.. and keep the "files to upload" and "custpack" in teh same directory as "Phone-XS V2.exe" JUST IN CASE! If you want to mod them a bit.. then you have to worry about them. Besides that, PhoneXS will auto-detect them. So for example, you want to delete a driver off of yoru phoen and upload another. All you have to do is go through your "files_to_upload" folder and delete what you want and add what you want, then go to phoneXS, then go to "FSX" after connectiong, then hit "Start FSX" and it will begin uploading and deleting the drivers. BUT if you're flashing, pay NO ATTENTION to the "FSX" section, that's only for uploading and deleting stuff. Stick to the "Flash" menu if you're flashing.

5.) I have no idea about this stuff.. but as far as I'm concerned, you can add font to your phone, so adding Asian font shouldn't be a hassle. Not SURE.. but what you're making out of it, I'm not too sure. I WOULD say that you can get HK stuff just fine, AS LONG as the MAIN and FS BOTH are HK.. however I'm still not TOTALLY positive it would work like that. You can try it, and if it doesn't, then just flash to the others using fungied.cheese's pack. It'd be MUCH easier to do it that way though ^.^

6.) I myself am not familiar w/ m4p.. do you mean mp4 (mpeg-4)? If so, then it supports it. In fact, that's my format of choice when it comes to videos. People choose between 3GP (bad quality-small file size) but I stick w/ mp4, cuz with such a phone.. you need the best of everything

. Iono about protected/unprotected as far as THAT goes.. i never hassle w/ that junk. If it doesn't.. the ni'm sure there is a way to crack through the protection..

LIMEWIRE/TORRENTS FTW!!

7.) The silent cam ONLY works in silentmode... sorry, and as depressing as it is.. that's how it rolls. (Maybe I'm wrong, but i never bothered testing it, and every one has said that it MUST be in silent either way.. so. As far as the cam drivers go.. it seems that it makes your files QUITE a bit smaller and surprisingly it LOOKS as if the pictures are better quality too! Maybe it's just a fix for a bad encoding that SE had w/ their cam before, but on paper, it's better and more efficient, and it SEEMS that way in real life, though the differences are very minor. If you DON'T want it, then just dig through teh "files_to_upload" folder and delete all the folders and contents that say "camera".

7....again) What can I say.. I like to help people ^.^ It's a good feeling. I've had hundreds of clicks and downloads from my files that people use, and in turn, break through the limitations and caps that Rogers and Cingular put on their phones.. and that's my goal. Though.. me myself.. I'm using a legit.. 100% UNBRANDED and UNLOCKED phone. Completely legit. I use T-mobile actually ^.^ Gotta love the wal-mart brand of phone companies xD.

EDIT: BREAKING NEWS!! look at these TIMES!! This HAS to get motivation up.

on ANOTHER note.. i just wanted to point out (and i'm DAMN PROUD) of this.. but this just goes to show that it's easily possible to flash nearly instantly, and sometimes takes 9 hours. It's taken me 9 hours the first time, and I just started flashing now hoping that it would be done by 2morrow morning, and AMAZINGLY, it had finished in time for the movies 2night

.. check it, only 6-7 MINUTES!! Also, i'm sorry, but I left the "end" flash-log on the top, and the "beggining" of the flash on the bottom. If NO ONE believes me, then can someone tell me how I can copy/paste the entire log on here, cuz I have no idea how to get it.. it only lets me select individual commands, rather than copy/paste.

The phone, luckily, is not physically harmed or branded by Rogers

As for the m4p files, it's not video, it's music from iTunes. I have googled for cracks, but sorta like DRM on WMA files, they're always changing it and the only good "crack" I've found is a data "recorder" (shut up, I like "quotes"

) that records the audio and makes another file out of it. I wouldn't say the quality is bit-to-bit perfect, but it's good enough.

Uh... speaking of p2p, know good site to get free games for the w810? There's so many it's hard to find a good one... I had such a nice one for my old Nokia 3220.

BTW, wal-mart doesn't have Catherine Zeta-Jones doing commercials for them

So now, I'm just going to do the flashing the easy way with cheese's package and everything in it , I swear I usually customize my own stuff

No, unbranding doesn't do that. It merely removes the Cingular BRAND name from all the menu's and such and adds missing features. Well, more disabled than missing.

1. Custom Pack goes inside own_custpack folder. Flash Themes are automatically installed. To make sure, check the customize.xml in the custpack with Notepad. Scroll to the bottom. Make sure enable_flash_desktop is 'true'.

But no, I use something called "myFairTunes" (google it) to record my audio data, I'm not sure if it's loseless or not, probably not... it takes the whole length of the song before it finishes tho. I think it actually plays the song (muted) and records it.

@shfit2demax: Go and download the Microsoft TweakUI powertoy (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...powertoys.mspx). Drop down to the "my computer", "autoplay", "types" and (de)select the check mark on "Enable autoplay for removable devices". That should prevent the Phone from being recognized when it disconnects and reconnects during the flash.

Thanks for the info. I think it worked. Now I am just trying to upload some new themes in the rar files that fungied.cheese put up. I am not having any luck uploading them yet. Can't figure out what to do in Phone-XS V2 do upload these files. any ideas. thanks

I guess I am confused? I thought you could upload new themes after you finish uploading the R4DB005 firmware version? you wont lose phone numbers and so on if you remember to sync your phone with your pc BEFORE flashing (or like you say "uploading the firmware").

As for the other part, yes, you're right. You upload the new themes after you flash your phone. I thought you meant the .swf files not the .thm files, my bad on that one.

But fungied, aren't the new themes in your package built into the flash? The ones is the "manually upload" folder are thms but the ones in the "files_to_upload" folder are SWFs. BUT, if I wanted to, how do I go about "manually uploading" those THMs?

Also, I've been stuck on Wait for Eatebs for the last 6 hours and my CPU usage is still at 100%, now are you sure that means the brute force hacking is still working?

if you're stuck on EateBS...you gotta unplug your phone, pull out the battery, put it back in, recharge, and start over.

And yes, the .swf are the flash menu files so you can just leave those alone, phonexs will automatically upload those. to get the .thm file...you wait till AFTER flashing is done, you put back your sim card, turn on the phone, plug your usb into your phone (DO NOT hold the C button), use Sony Ericson File Manager, and upload the .thm files into the Theme folder.

hmmm... I stoped the process and pulled it out... looks the rogers FW is gone and the phone does not boot up, it just dies after the walkman flashy intro. Anyhoo, after a recharge we'll try the process again.

Well, finally got the flashing and uploading the new themes all done. The volume is a lot better in the earpiece and the new themes are great especially clubpulse and the lava one. One quick question, do other people get a slight vibration when in some main menu themes? I noticed a slight lag in some themes in the main menu as well but nothing to gripe about. I will update any other changes that I notice.

I had to restart the both flash and uploading several times so don't get discouraged if you don't get it the first time or second. Thanks everybody for the help.

So after you were done did you connect the phone, while turned on and added the new theme files(.thm) to the phone folder? Thats all I did to make it work.

Yea, uploaded them right through my bluetooth and float's. I even downloaded them from another pack and sent them over, still no dice.

It seems to me like they make it to the phone with no issues- like I said, with many of them, the skin and coloration changes, but the menu layout doesn't. It seems odd. I'm in the process of reflashing right now with the entire pack, afterwards I'll see if it gives me any results.

If anyone has ideas though, that'd be good.

fungied.cheese beat me by two minutes....

try checking your customize.xml file and make sure flash menus is enabled. then make sure the .thm file names and the .swf file names are EXACTLY the same. Good Luck.

From what i understood when I first started with my w810i (I am a newb) was that the shutter noise was still going off when the phone is put in silent mode. The "fix" makes it soe that the shutter does NOT go off when the phone is in silent mode. I bought my phone unbranded unlocked so I have no before and after experience, but that's what I understood. The reasoning behind it is to prevent sneaky perverts from taking unsavoury pictures without the subject's knowledge.

I hope that helps clear up?? (If I am right?)

My phone gets to "Waiting for the phone to disconnect" in the flash process and goes no further. My phone then comes on and says to shut down the program before disconnecting. I haven't got this phone activated yet so I don't have a sim card and it wont let me use the phone without it (besides the mp3player in airplane mode). Could it be that even though PhoneXS didn't complete that the flash did complete? It still said it was brute forcing when the phone was begging to be unplugged but phoneXS had been stuck at waiting to disconnect for hours.

Try it again, errors like that happen. However, if Phone XS already sent some flash data, chances are, like mine was, your phone is now inoperable until you get a proper flash in. Just so you know, your phone is not supposed to be on when you flash... You're supposed to turn off the phone and hold C and then plug in the cable while still holding, the screen should stay off and you should not be getting to the startup menu.

I have made sure it was off each time I flashed, even removed the battery and reinserted it. For some reason after it sits at "waiting to disconnect" for a while, the phone turns on and tells me to shut down the program before i unplug the phone, when I unplug the phone, it turns off and i can turn it on to the screen to choose phone or mp3 player mode.

Are you using cheese's package? If you are, one thing you HAVE to remember is to, AFTER FLASHING, manually put the .thm files from the "manually upload to phone" folder (or whatever it's called) and to place that in your PHONE's (not mem stick) themes folder. It should be in your phone's root.

i think so its hard to describe its almost as it has its ups and downs i was talking to my gf and i figured it might be her house phone.. so now that she got back today to her apartment i still find the same thing and i didnt have that problem before. signal is full and it just appears to have some strange background sounds to it..

oo, here's something interesting. for those that really really want firmware RE4..w/e it was lol good news!. i just went out and tested upgrading fw via seus to the latest one and it works! also, it keeps intact your flash menu, acoustics and other drivers...so there really isnt any drawback. the hissing noise has died down SLIGHTLY..but not too noticeable. also, the call quality seems to have improved in my case...not sure why, might've been fw...but yea, i recommend people do this if they want too.

yea it'll say Europe 2 because that is the custpack you have in your phone. only thing was that it was modified to WORK with the american_2 flash/main file...it said the exact smae thing for me and i had no problems with it.

Well, looks like my phone has died. It resetted while I was flashing or something and now it won't get recognized anymore. Only thing it's good for now is playing music only and that's laggy too.

it almost sounds as a seashell inside my phone.. so any ideas can i just revert to my old sound driver on the phone but use the new cam driver and what not? cause im tired of that seashell sound it almost sounds like waves at an occean.

I am still trying to upload the acoustic & cam. files using PhoneXS. Every time I connect the phone to the computer, everything seems to work great, however, about 15-20 min. into the process, the phone turns on and switches to file transfer mode. I had the same problem. I think this is how i fixed it:
Make sure you're using PhoneXS Alpha 6, and uninstall SE PC Suite. After I did that it worked for me, but it could have been a big coincidence (doubtful).
