I have noticed a few things with this phone. I'm not sure if flashing it caused it or there is just something wrong with the phone to begin with. I flashed it I think the same day as I got it so I didn't really use it much with the cingular firmware on it.

1. The phone will sometimes cause the other person on the line to not be able to hear me, but I can still hear them. After them saying hello multiple times they finally hang up.

2. I'm not sure of the hum/static/hiss noise people were referring to, but is it the noise I hear when my earpiece volume is up high and there is no one speaking. I hear a wavering static/hiss noise.

3. A couple times I turned my external speaker up while playing music really loud and it made some constant buzzing noise and the music went away. I had to turn the volume down and restart the music.

Anyone else have any of these problems?

Hi, i am very new to SE and i have been reading and doing my research here, se-nse, top sony....and i am seeing all these diffrent files MAIN file, fw files, themes, flash menus etc....

i have few questions about all this, before i go on and do the un-branding process using this guide, which is an awesome and simple to follow guide…thx for all the people behind all this.

Before I ask questions, I am in Canada with rogers service. How do I check my fw version and all that sort of info about the phone?

These are some of the questions I have and/or unclear about things:
- first, the files in the zip file “phoneflashfiles.rar” which is provided in the guide to use, are these files all up to date, or the best files to use for this guide? Or are there any new much better files available now that can be used.
These are the files i have :
W810_R4DB005_FS_AMERICA_2_RED49.fbn
W810_R4DB005_MAIN_GENERIC_HN_CID49.mbn

- second, i read inside customize.xml in that zip file and it has "<country>United Kingdom</country>""<apn>goto.virginmobile.uk</apn>" and i was wondering if these are the right files for north america, since it says UK and all.

- third, I have been reading about these flash menus and themes etc, is it possible that after extracting that given zip files into a folder I can add my own flash menus, and more themes……basically I want to add all the extra stuff and get them installed during the process all at once. I found great flash menus on se-nse site which I want to install.

- forth, any other basic things I should be careful about before going ahead with all this, like disable auto detect, have full battery, any other things??? I know that things could go wrong anytime, but I just want to know some very common things I should take care of before doing this. I will be doing this overnight in couple of days.

^yeah I got the exact same problem......but what happen was that I used the generic as MAIN, but not the .ssw one soo I'm going to try again

I used the other one from the CID 49 file after and it works, but I didn't think I did the process properly, so now I think I screwed up, the phone still work, don't know how it'll be after

okay, I have a question for unbranding with FAR, the question is when I copy the custpack, do I only need to copy in the customization.xml file?? or everything in that folder?? since in the original custom foler, there's already a few files there, should I delete the original one? and replace with fungied.cheese's files?

I am with Rogers too and did the flashing with PhoneXS and fungied.cheese's file pack (the phoneflashfiles.rar).

It's NOT the most up to date but they are the most stable and "good quality" firmware to use.

Don't worry about the settings inside customize.xml other than enabling flash menus and setting the camera flash sound to be disabled (if you want).

Flash menus I can't help as I don't know of that process.

Disable auto detect, kill explorer.exe task if you really want to prevent WINDOWS from interfering. full battery. things might fail one or more times, just restart from scratch. Basically, have a backup phone to use! I had to sadly use my Nokia 8390. Wow what a downgrade.

It took me five tries total for flashing to work.

yea i will try to search around some more, for those flash menus, i know we can put them in with FAR, but i was wondering if i can do all that in one shot rather then flashing, and then customize it later.

I have another question.......

I finally customized the phone using the far method, but it had a glitch, b4 I finished I wanted to backup everything I did, during the backup it froze longe than it should of. I couldnt back out of the process like your supposed to ( ".." ) so I just disconnected, whent to XS flashed main and fs successfully, now phone wont power on, just a steady white screen(of death), any help??

Hi! For the first thing: Did you accidentally mute the microphone? Press and hold 'C' during a call..

For the second thing: That is the hiss, which is basically static noise where there should be no noise. Try new drivers to remove them.

Third thing: I've had that happen 1/100 times, very rare for me. If you have the problem repeatedly, try deleting the song from the play list and putting it back in. Try new audio drivers, maybe, too.

Ibrahim i have done the XS++ and FAR method...and it worked like a charm, super easy and fast for sure.......took me 15-20 mins, thx for pointing me to that guide.

well newbie here.. been a lurker for sometime but today decided to take a stab at using Phone Xs2
followed every instruction to the letter and started this evening @ 5:15pm.. @ 6:16pm the famous *wait for EaTEbS* showed up and it has been sitting there ever since. almost 3.5 hours.. leave it and wait?

and it doesnt let me go in the phone file system.

any help.........i have patched SEFP and i dont have SE phone software, have good USB drivers etc.

ok, who has had the worst luck so far with XS II and a W810I??? I have tried 5x now and that damn Wait for EaTEbS is starting to annoy me.... especially since the least amount of time I least amount if time on that message was 5 hours, most was 17hrs..
I have gone over the steps, tasks, software, USB ports, everything and no success..
So who has done the most attempts???

Well, I have had 3 phones and all 3 were successful on the first try in less than an hour.
Now after that I screwed around with them some and messed them up pretty good, but was always able to get them back to working pretty easily.

I have been unsuccessful for the past 2 month and that consists of charging at night and killin the battery with numerous amounts of unsuccessful flashing. and after a successful flash using the Far method now my phone is bricked.

Who ever wrote that method becareful, I noticed in the scripting it uses brown loaders instead of red, I think thats why when I try XS it says my phone is brown and not red.

And could be why it is bricked after a successful flash using far.

@CellFonePimp what are you talking about, brown red loader.
if your phone is red you get the red loader, if its brown you get the brown one.
my phone is red and i have done everything step by step in that FAR method and took me max 15 mins to unbrand...works like a charm no prob and i flash everynight and changing stuff around etc.

and what "scripting" are you talking about that is brown?

you use the FAKE MAIN to brake into the fs and then flash your FS and then go in far make changes etc, then go back to XS++ and flash the REAL MAIN file. simple 15 mins process.

maybe you didnt delete all the other phone files, you have to delete all the other phone files and make sure you only have the w810 in the folder.

and i know you are talking about this file CID49_BROWN_CS_LOADER_V26.LDR but you only use this to brake in i guess, it doenst stay on your phone, once you reflash the real main

Yes, I think we use the brown loader because it let's us get in quicker.

If it detects the phone as brown, then it is brown. Loader doesn't matter, I shouldn't think.

i dont know, i use that brown FAKE loader, my phone is red and still is red after unbranding.....beacuse FAKE brown loader is only to get in, but you HAVE to get RED MAIN file after, but if your phone is brown then you HAVE to get BROWN MAIN after.

I had my w810i flashed yesterday in a shop, after i got it back it had this ticker on the bottom of the desktop saying:
welcome: messages ready to be recieved
After a while it comes and goes, on the right soft key it says Ticker, how do I get rid of this blasted ticker?

Bring it back to whoever did it and tell them to do it right. Your right button should be Menu on a unbranded phone.

thanks for the info OP, flashed my Fido Z710i to W710i via XS++ and bruteforce.. good 3 hrs...

took the plunge, even though i wasn't sure which CDA to use.. then i found a polish forum where the person flashed their Z710i with the same FW and FS files and used a CDA that worked for them so i went for it too and couldn't be happier!

Hey, just a quick couple questions before I flash/debrand my Rogers w810i.

1) Before i start, I want to make a backup of the phone so that I can put it back to how it was before I flashed. Can i back up the flash/filesystem/custpack?

2) I see the latest method is using FAR + SEFP, is it more reliable?

3) In terms of unlocking the phone, is there software available for that, and if so, does it require reflashing the phone? Can I unlock it after remotely (through a company for instance)?

4) Can I stick with the PhoneXS method listed above? If so, could you provide a link to download the phonefile package that was mentioned in the initial post (it says the file is no longer available). I wanted fungied.cheese's pack. If not, i'll have to make whichever pack I can. With his pack, can I not install newer camera/audio drivers if they are available?

It will *not* require flashing the phone. Yes, I think that is possible.

I think you'll need to go to Top Sony (register/20 posts/1 month membership) or SE-NSE for the flash files. Look for the File Uploads thread at SE-NSE. Yes, you can install whatever camera/audio you prefer.

Great, going to try in a minute. Last questions (for now):

* For the custompack, I am just using the fungie'd customize.xml, and have deleted the rest of the files from the folder.

* It isn't specified, but do I need to put all my driver files into the "files_to_upload" folder of XS++ before I flash with the " w300_w810_z550_cid49" bootscript? Or will Far+SEFP be able to upload from my computer? Just want to make sure I got this right before I flash it. (files like custompack, audio drivers, and camera).

Just replacing the MAIN will not work. You need to full flash your phone (MAIN and FS) with the European language you need. You can do this either via DaVinci, Wotan and I think it's also possible thru XS+Sefp+Far.

ok.. can someone tell me how to put English and Spanish in my phone as PHONE LANGUAGE and no just writing language?? i used fungied.cheese's pack and it has america_2 file system, that's supposed to give the phone English, Portuguese and Spanish. the thing is it does... but only under wirting language.. i want the phone to display those languages on the menues (english and spanish, i dont care for portuguese but i dont mind if its there.) thanks in advance.

flashing is updating the firmware on your phone. This does not unlock the phone for other carriers but provides access to additional capabilities the service provide may have prevented. For example using mp3 as ring tones for w810i. I'm still trying to understand all the features available before I flash so I don't have to do it multiple times

You can look around in this forum and other similar places to get more understanding.

CAn I Please get an answer!!! I tried flshing my phone (w600i) with PhoneXS.. and it flashed my main firmware but once it got to the FS, It showed me this message (Failed sending flashblock 114. Returnvalue 0x45) Can someone please help!!!

I got a z710i from Fido and I've been trying to use xs++ for the last half hour now and still cant get my phone to be detected. I've been holding 'C' on MY PHONE but this sh*t is becoming annoying. Im wondering if my phone just isnt compatable with xs++ or is their some other problem?

Take the battery out and leave it out for about 5 minutes. Literally, 5 whole minutes. Then try again.

It should be compatible.

Try this thread: much quicker. All you need to follow the instructions. Here they are if you don't understand:

After you've entered FAR, browse to FS/tpa/preset/custom. Copy customize.xml to your computer, edit it with notepad. Find "enable flash desktop" and put true instead of false. Save and exit. Delete the customize.xml you have on your phone and paste the one from your computer.

Then, in /tpa/preset/system/desktop/flash paste the .swf files. Then use a theme that is FLASH-ENABLED! A regular theme will not work. Usually, the .swf comes included with the corresponding .thm (theme) file.

Only if it is CID49. CID51/52 W580's are *not* flashable using XS++ at this time. Working very hard on it, however. Currently is the first priority for the XS++ team.

It isn't specifically supported, but should be. We haven't had the time to test it yet. For all I know, it may not come in the CID49 flavor. Just don't flash it if it is CID51/52.

vince: that's because the k750 has no hardware to use the 850 MHz band. It's a triband phone that only has hardware to receive signals on 900/1800/1900 MHz. Flashing the phone's firmware won't affect its hardware.

Edit: Flashing successful!!.. Yippie!!.. One thing.. Under the "Play Now" option.. it asks two things in a different language? lol. Wont be using that option though. so yeah.

Hi all,

Sorry if this question has been addressed, but I was wondering how long is too long when waiting for the EaTEbS thing to finish? (Last step from what I can gather). I've done everything and it's gone perfectly smooth, however it's been on that step from about 4:00pm and it is now 12:00pm the following day (20 hours). I know the original poster said "unless it's been on that option for the last two days" or something like that not to worry and to let it do the brute forcing, but I was wondering what other people's experiences were with the thing and how to know if it's just not going to work and try again/something different? Btw, I'm using an AMD Athlon 64 3400+ running at 2.2 GHz with 1GB RAM and nothing else running in the foreground. I've left other programs (antivirus, etc.) running in the background so I don't know if that'll affect the outcome. Though from what I can tell, Phone XS 2 is using 99 percent of the resources so it's not competing for CPU usage. Thanks in advance for any help.

Edit: My computer just recognized my phone and connected it opening up a browser window with G: (Phone) or whatever as the directory. Does that mean it's finished?

Edit 2: Got it to work using the Phone XS++ / FAR manager combo without brute forcing. More headache, but considerably less time. Thx anyway.

Haven't posted in a while, been kinda busy, but I'm having a problem now. My W810i was stolen on a recent trip to Shreveport LA. I did an insurance claim and they sent me another one. I now have three. One I bought from Cingular back in Jan of 06 that still works, just a little beat up looking. Another I bought about 6 months ago on craigslist ( guy thought he bricked because of the flashing white screen (wsod) I just re-flashed it ) and this new one I got yesterday. It's brand new from Cingular, and I can't seem to flash it. Every time I try, about 5 - 6 hours into it, the phone just boots into usb mode. I tried all 8 usb ports, updated all my drivers, updated Phone XS, downloaded cheese's most recent pack, un-installed disc-2-phone and pc suite, and still nothing. I just finished re-flashing one of my other ones, took a whole 30 minutes, but this one I'm getting nothing but problems out of. Has anyone else encountered this problem out of the newer 810's? Any other ideas? Before when I had this problem I just taskkilled explorer and it worked like a charm. Any ideas would be appreciated.

You'll have to patch it to allow Java to run while the camera is running. Depending on the CID number, you may or may not be able to. I think we can patch up to 49, maybe 52, too?

Check the CID, Haagen, most of SE'S phones come loaded with CID 53 now. As I know, only way to crack CID 53 is with Far Manager & JDFlasher. Phone XS and XS++ won't do anything but identify them. I'm basing this on what I have read on HoFo & other forums. Both my SE'S are more than 6 months old, and are CID 52, so I can still use XS++ on mine.
