Hi all,

Great site buy the way!

So a few weeks ago I called Cingular to turn off text messaging to my daighters phone. They instructed me to turn the phone off and when I turned it back on it would no longer allow text messaging in or out of the phone. So, I turned it off and shortly went to bed. A couple days later I went to turn it on and it would not come on. I tried charging it and it seems dead! Completely dead! I pulled the battery and SIM card and nothing.

So I decided to send the phone to Motorola for repair, as it was still under warranty according to their website. When they go it they said they could not repair it because it had a foreign operating system on it. So they sent it back unrepaired. WTF? I used it on the Cingular network for 5 months with no problem. I originally bought it off of Cellularchoices.net for the Cingular network and had no problems until just recently.

Anyone have any ideas how I can get this phone back to a working condition? My daughter is driving me crazy without her phone. lol

Phones not purchased through the Carrier are not covered under any warranty.

Since the firmware/flex was not Cingular's not every function is guaranteed to work properly. It sounds like something corrupted.

You could flash it yourself (locate the software and flex files) or send it to an independent authorizzed service center to see if they can get it powered on in bootloader mode and reflash the original Cingular software for a small fee.

This still will not enable warranty repairs later, but at least it would be up and running with the full Cingular software.

This of course requires that the phone is either a v3 or v3i.
