Theme Packs

Hey I just bought a cingular sony erricson w810i yesterday. I'm trying to add some "flash themes" I found on this site to my phone. I read through a ton of posts and read different answers to the same question. Some people said that I need to flash my phone in order to add theme packs and some said that you didn't have too. I downloaded the theme packs, they are all in *.swf format. Also in the rar were some *.thm files. I downloaded the *.rar file provided in the "flashing for dummies" thread, and am not sure what to do from here. I got Phon XS 2 to connect to my phone. I think I have the files that I need but I am not sure because I keep reading about *.mnu ? files. What do I need to put into the \files_to_upload\tpa\preset\system\desktop\flash directory in order to get the themes to work and what exactly do I need to do? Do I have to flash the phone? I know I sound like a noob asking questions that everyone has already asked, but I need some help. Thanks in advance for helping me out.

ok, if you downloaded the "phoneflashfiles.rar" that was in my flashing for dummies tutorial, and downloaded the "tpa.rar" (the folder that goes tpa/preset/system/desktop/flash/**list of .swf files here", then all you have to do is fidn your "files_to_upload" folder, and once you get down to files_to_upload/tpa/preset, then you drag/drop the "system/desktop... directory that you got your themes from into there. So your "files_to_upload" folder should read this::

files_to_upload/ ifs AND tpa(but disregard "ifs" for now and click tpa)/preset/custom AND system(but disregard "custom" and for now click "system")/desktop/flash/**all your swf theme files.**

Maybe I'm just horrible at explaining, but tell me if that helps you. then from there, simply flash and you should get everything that fungied.cheese included in his pack AND you'll get the extra themes all in one go.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that and I had a few problems. I just bought the phone yesterday so luckily its still covered under warranty. Just got back from the Cingular store with a new phone to try this on. Here's what happened:

The phone connected properly and everything and started hacking. It would count to 4 thousand( 1000.... 2000.... etc.) then disconnect and reconnect. After a few tried it wouldn't reconnect. It went into file transfer mode a window popped up showing the contents of F:/ (my phone). So i hit stop. Took out battery waited about 2 minutes and put it back in. THe phone wouldn't turn on at all. Took it to the cingular store and they gave me a new one. What did I do wrong and how do I fix this problem? Thanks for all the help.

just started the process again maybe it will work this time. worst comes to worst there's a different cingular store around the corner :-P. And I know the guy at the one in Twelve Oaks Mall (Detroit MI) So hopefully I can continue to get it replaced without a problem. Wish Me Luck or send gas money...either one is kool!

It's still turning on so I'm assuming it's still fixable, question is how do I fix and what am I doing wrong?

Found the problem. Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition is causing problems. I opened up CMD. taskkilled explorer and the process went really smoothly. Here's the final output.

16:25:09| Done uploading
16:25:09| ++ Sending shutdown command to phone...
16:25:10| ++ Customizing was SUCCESSFUL!
16:25:10| ++ Disconnecting phone...
16:25:10| ++ You may now unplug your phone.
16:25:10| ++ Flashing was successful
16:25:12| Disconnected... Unplug the phone
16:26:38| Shutting down...

Started at 15:51:14 and ended at 16:26:38. So entire process took about 30 minutes from program open to finish. And everything works perfectly. You might want to add to your Guide that If anyone has the same problem to try opening CMd and using the following commands. Start ---> Run ---> cmd

taskkill /f /im "explorer.exe"
and they should do this after the phone is connected, and before they start the process. Thanks for the help and maybe this will help somebody else as well.

haha, I'm glad to hear it worked out for you. And thanks for replying how you fixed the problem.. theres at least ONE other person that will be having this problem, and you just made it one step easier to fix.

I'm just glad I figured out what the problem was and was able to fix it and share a possible solution.
