Obviously I have all the volume up, I've tried calling myself to the cell from home, and it just displays the call, but the phone doesn't emit any sound, and NO it's not in the silence mode, all the volume is up,...

When I try to PREVIEW the ringtones, THEY DO NOT WORK EITHER!, that's freaking strange, the cellphone does emit some sounds though, like keypad sounds, recording sounds (from the voice recording feature), I tried these things to test if the speaker was damaged or something, but apparently it's not...

So I have NO CLUE, what's going on...........

The answer to your problem is either connect to P2Kman or P2K Tools and go into the audio folder and erase both the db files. Next time, please search first.

The T720 has two speakers in the flip: the loudspeaker and the earpiece speaker. The sounds you describe come out of the earpiece speaker. Your loudspeaker is probably bad.

I've never seen this problem be a software issue. I'm going with hardware issue on this one.

I hate it when people say this. You know you enjoy replying to posts or else you wouldn't have done it here.

Uhmmm, how could I test the loudspeaker then? :-/

SimpleKindaMan is right on.

As for testing, you essentially have done the tests. The only way to fully verify the problem is to replace the speaker.

The downside, the LCDs, both speaker assemblys, the flex PCB and the vib motor are part of a 1 piece design. It might be possible to separate the pieces if you have some really good skills, but we just replace the entire assembly.

Since the part is quite expensive from Motorola, you would need to find a donor part and do the repair yourself to make this it economically worthwhile.

I seem to recall a bulletin about this problem from Motorola. There is a very tiny coil that gets knocked off the board due to the magnet of the ringer being too large. Motorola supplies a new ringer speaker and, if you're lucky that coil is floating around loose in the phone somewhere. It's not much bigger than the head of a pin, so be careful opening the phone or you'll lose it.
