Cingular 3125 non-warranty repair SUCKS

I have an unlocked Cingular 3125 that's out of warranty. I sent it to the repair facility in Texas, and they received it on Dec. 13. I was told when I called to arrange for the repair that they would "triage" the phone as soon as it arrived and call me with a repair estimate. So far they've done NOTHING with my phone. I've called twice, and they confirm they have my phone and have no idea when they might look at it. Both times they've blamed the holidays.
Is in-warranty service this bad? I need that phone back and working. I'm using an old Ericsson T-28 as a backup cell, but I really depend on the PDA functions of the 3125.
I've got my eye on a couple of Ebay auctions of unlocked MPX220s to try to tide me over.

What wa wring with it and to whom did you send it?

The earpiece started having intermittent outages, a problem that's somewhat common, from what the rep told me. She said they're fixing that with a board replacement. I sent it to the repair facility in Texas. I guess it's operated by the manufacturer, although the e-mail with my RMA number came from cingularcustomercare.com.
If I knew of any other repair options, I'd tell them to ship my phone back.

Hey Tracey, I'm having the same problem...Where did you send it to? I'm actually a T-Mobile customer w/no warranty, as I believe you are too...Thanks.

How is it out of warranty when the phone only came out about 6 months ago or so? Can't XBM help?

I should have updated this - HTC ended up fixing this phone under warranty because it's been less than a year from manufacture, but it took FOREVER. Now that the holidays are over, maybe it'll be better.
You need to find the toll-free number on the HTC web site. Once you contact them, they'll open a ticket and e-mail you instructions for shipping your phone. If I were you I'd go ahead and get a backup phone, 'cause they might have it a while.
