When i use audacity to edit MP3 Ringtones, i once in import the MP3, i can change it to 16-bit, but if i try to take it from 44100hz to 16000hz, then it slows the song waaaaaaaaaaay down.... and it doesn't sound right, i'm sure theres an easy fix for this... The ringtones work on my phone at 44100, but they take up quite a bit of space.

Yeah if you change the rate from 44100hz to 16000hz it will slow down. if you are using bitpim after this step. Leave the mp3 ar 44100, and when you go to upload it to your phone, you will get the option to set the bitrate of the file. you can reduce it there, to 48,96, or maybe 128kb.

That's interesting...I use Audacity as an audio editor in our studio, adjusting the bitrate should not slow the clip down, just reduce the quality the sound. I've been sampling tracks for ringtones using Audacity and haven't run into those problems.

Yeah, i'm not using BitPim, just emailing the MP3s to my phone, so i don't know if i can change it or not... Oh well, they work, they're just huge files.
