so i have the metroPCS motoslvr l7c and no matter what i do i cannot do anything to connect my computer to phone via USB to use the integrated mp3 player. can anyone help?

please?

to clarify i hav a 512mb memory micro card installed and formatted into my fone, i have the proper usb cable, when i connect it to the computer ive gone thru all the steps ive seen in other posts but have found that the only driver i can install is "motorola usb modem".. all other drivers are unable to be found

This is to access the phone file system thru tools like pktools and such.

The phone will have 2 setting in setup/connections/usb menu. Make sure its set to data/fax and not memory card. Then once you plug in the phone WinXP should beep once and add the moto modem. Then once you open pktools or whatever it asks for the drivers, point it to the directory where you have the drivers unzipped. Be sure you are using the newest version of the drivers.

If you are just trying to access the memory card just set the phone to memory card in the connections/usb. Then it will show up as a removable drive in my computer.

there is no USB menu.. the only two options in connections are "bluetooth" and "incoming call". the "incoming call" option has only to options to change "next call" into "normal" "data only" or "fax only"

also where can i find the drivers and pktools?

What exactly are you looking for? Once you have the device installed as a modem, you can transfer files with Obex using a tool such as MPT.

I use a MetroPCS SLVR L7c - Been looking around and doing research on what can actually be done on this version of the phone. First off you have to be very careful and willing to end up with a brick, consider that most faqs and guides are made for GSM SLVR - Make sure when looking around you see that they atleast mention CDMA (i.e. Alltel, Sprint, Cricket, US Cellular, Verizon, MetroPCS). Personally I have not seen much if anything mentioning MetroPCS, mostly Verizon peeps using Alltel firmware to open up some features they don't have access to. As far as I can tell, Sprint has thier phone the most locked, Verizon comming in 2nd. MetroPCS doesn't have much locked other than being able to access MP3 via USB.

Ok, well this is what I have gotten to work using the Handset usb drivers 32_v2[1].6.2.0. P2kcommander (various versions 3.3 4.9 4.9A) and the p2k drivers included, also used these with Vista drivers. BitPim 9.14official(?). I am at work right now, so I'm just posting what I remember from memory, there are a few other tools that worked as well.

I just ran into Mark_Venture's guides and site on CDMA, which seems to have lots of useful information that could possibly work on our phones.

Now, if you are just looking to back up most of your stuff off the phone, BitPim works for that. If you want to xfer audio (mp3) and pictures (vairous) P2kCommander works for that.. Just make sure you install MPT (Motorola Phone Tools) first, plug in your phone and it it detect and install it's drivers. Then disconnect your phone and close the program. Load P2kcommander, plug in your phone again, it will detect 3-4 things, tell it not to look for the drivers and instead tell it where they are, which usually is in the p2kcommander directory in drv. It should find your phone, on the right top of the pane choose /a/ and tell it to read your phone, copy stuff back and forth. Be Happy

MPT only allows Contacts and Calendar to be accessed on MetroPCS phones.

Like this?? -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/P2KC-Tones.htm

You might also need to make use of the note at the bottom for K1M users.

Ok so I just got the Moto SLVR L7c from US cellular, but when I go to connect it to my pc, mpt doesnt even reconize or detect it. I do not have a sd memory card, but would like to download a couple mp3's to the phone. Do I have to have a sdmini or whatever? I have changed the connection back and forth from USB to Modem/COM (the only 2 options unders connections-USB Settings) but nothing works. Suggestions???

provided you have the correct drivers and theyre working, from what i hear, you have to seem edit the l7c in order to get "media icons" to show up on mpt. i havent been able to get any seem editing tools to work with my phone so i chose another route.

i run pst 'phone support tools' then i open up p2kcommander. that allows you to view all the files on the phone. i copied the mp3's from there.
