I just picked up a T-Mobile Dash and put on some .mp3's from my computer. I was wondering how I can use them as a ringtone for calls and text messages. Will .mp3's work as ringtones? And where do I have to put them when I sync them from my PC? Thanks.

Yes they will work, you can put the in the sounds file which is in the application data folder.

Ringtones assigned to contacts only work for incoming calls. Your text msg ringtone is global. Welcome to Windows Mobile

I found it easier to take an MP3, convert it to WAV, merge channels(mono due to only one speaker if not using A2DP) and then cut out the part i wanted for the ringtone. All with freeware found via google.

So is there nothing available to assign different ringtones to individuals txt?

Cubangt, I don't know of any phones other than motorolas that allow that. That was one of a couple things that really bugged me about them...I never knew if I was getting a call or a text.
